Publisher's Summary
"Hillier's plotting is everything you want in this novel — thoughtfully crafted and finely paced with enough hooks to keep you in a state of anticipation...January LaVoy has the vocal versatility to give distinct voices to all the key characters." — NJ.com
Jennifer Hillier's Jar of Hearts is the story of three best friends: one who was murdered, one who went to prison, and one who's been searching for the truth all these years . . .
When she was sixteen years old, Angela Wong—one of the most popular girls in school—disappeared without a trace. Nobody ever suspected that her best friend, Georgina Shaw, now an executive and rising star at her Seattle pharmaceutical company, was involved in any way. Certainly not Kaiser Brody, who was close with both girls back in high school.
But fourteen years later, Angela Wong's remains are discovered in the woods near Geo's childhood home. And Kaiser—now a detective with Seattle PD—finally learns the truth: Angela was a victim of Calvin James. The same Calvin James who murdered at least three other women.
To the authorities, Calvin is a serial killer. But to Geo, he's something else entirely. Back in high school, Calvin was Geo's first love. Turbulent and often volatile, their relationship bordered on obsession from the moment they met right up until the night Angela was killed.
For fourteen years, Geo knew what happened to Angela and told no one. For fourteen years, she carried the secret of Angela's death until Geo was arrested and sent to prison.
While everyone thinks they finally know the truth, there are dark secrets buried deep. And what happened that fateful night is more complex and more chilling than anyone really knows. Now the obsessive past catches up with the deadly present when new bodies begin to turn up, killed in the exact same manner as Angela Wong.
How far will someone go to bury her secrets and hide her grief? How long can you get away with a lie? How long can you live with it?
More praise for Jar of Hearts:
"...listeners will be captivated by this audio version of Hillier's standout thriller...LaVoy's masterful reading is gripping; she elicits both sympathy and loathing for a protagonist who is part femme fatale and part wronged woman. A riveting production." — Booklist, starred review
"Jar of Hearts grabs you by the throat! The perfect blend of riveting characters, chilling details, and gasping twists in this standout thriller will keep you frantically reading until the explosive end.” – Lisa Gardner, New York Times bestselling author of Right Behind You

Featured Article: The Best Female Narrators You Can Listen To All Day
When considering a new audiobook, one of the biggest questions listeners have is whether they’ll enjoy the narration style. This is understandable as audiobooks span at least a few hours, and sticking with one person’s voice for that period can feel like a big commitment. Luckily, there are so many excellent voice actors performing audiobooks that you might just find yourself gravitating to certain audiobooks based solely on the narrator’s strength.

Great, captivating book! 5 stars
Listen, this is one of the best books I’ve listened to in a long time. I’ve been an audible member for a little over a year now and have listened to well over 2 months (and a few weeks! ah) of thrillers, and serial killer and psychological thrillers are my favorites. This is the first review I’ve ever written so if that doesn’t sell you, I don’t know what will. The narrator is wonderful, and the book was utterly captivating. I finished in less than 2 days and craved more. You will learn to love, hate, fear, and be scared for the main characters—highly recommend to anyone looking to get out of a boring thriller lull!

Not my cup of tea
Typically I like books like Jar of Hearts, however I did not like this book. Firstly it started out slow. Secondly there was way too many graphic scenes of a particular nature in the book. And lastly despite having plot twists, all but one were easy to figure out prior to the author getting there for me.

A 6 star book in my review
Truly my favorite book I have listened to in a very very long time. The write and narrator combo is a fantastic fit. I hope to see more from the. I know there are some, I have t gotten around to listening to then yet.
I loved to truth even if it were only revealed it due time. I loved the rawness of the writing and how January a,ways gets the voices right! To me anyway.
I cant recommend this book enough.
If you are just delving into mystery thriller, this is a great one to start with.

I really enjoyed this book
I really enjoyed this book. I figured out what was going to happen on a few of the big things just before they happed but it was still really good. I read so many of these types of books that I can't imagine being too surprised anymore. My only complaint was the end. It seemed to end a little too fast. I could have used a little more to wrap it up perfectly. I will definitely see what other books this author has to offer!

I couldn’t love it
The idea was good, and the premise was scary, but the unnecessary and graphic sex thrown in- usually violent and even rape- killed it for me. I returned it before I finished it.

Horribly Boring and Predictable
The reviews for this book made it seem like it was going to be this brilliant thriller. Instead, it was overly infused with curse words and cheap scenes to add shock value and controversy.
It was boring to me, and took forever to get anywhere. Not to mention, not one character is likable or relatable so you don’t really care what happens to any of them. It took me a month to get through it because I wasn’t excited at all about the story. Read at your own risk...
