It was supposed to be the lottery win they’d always dreamed of....

Lexi and Jake have a ticket worth millions. And their friends are determined to claim a share.

A pleasant change

I enjoyed this book as I have never read a book where the lottery was won and how it affected everyone. We all dream about what we would do if we won the lottery but the reality is different (at least it is in this book).
I pretty much figured out the mystery part but there was a twist or 2 thrown in that kept it interesting.
I have never read a book by Adele Parks and will definitely try another title. I enjoyed the narrators as well.

Great book!

This is not as straightforward as you think going in. It’s a real rollercoaster ride, with an ending you won’t see coming.

could not put it down

This was such an interesting story. It started a bit slow, but quickly became so exciting. I am still thinking about all the twists and turns and the final chapter. Loved it!!!

Interesting with a great twist

Loved listening until the last 1/4. The main character's 'stand by your man's' approach conflicts with her supposed intelligence and zeal for fairness. Liked her except for that as her husband was a total cad and a-h&*%.. Nothing likable about him so it was a contradiction.
Overall, great story that makes you think about 'what would you do it you won'' and great narration. n

Not really a thriller/mystery

The characters are all unlikeable, Jake is unbearable! Calling it a mystery/thriller is incredibly misleading. It’s literally just about a lottery win until there’s only 3.5 hours left. There’s a couple little surprises in the final hours… but they’re not at all surprising. There is one at the very end that’s surprising, but irrelevant when you finally learn it.

Also the Toma story-line, and the bathroom scene…. Why??? It was a lot of filler.

I would absolutely listen to this narrator again. I also liked the writing, the story was just very boring.

Boring and predictable

This is not a book I would recommend at all. The story is quite boring with minimally developed characters and the story line totally predictable. Even the supposed major plot twist at the end I one big yawn. The narration is well done however and was the only reason I was able to painfully make it to the end of this story.

Disappointed with the ending

There were multiple parts to the story- which I liked, sometimes a bit too much detail with the lottery spending, as in, details that dragged on and didn't didn't to the story in importance. The ending though/ the last chapter explaining any twists seemed short, like the author was just tired of writing the story. It lacked explanation and was disappointing. Still worth the read though.

Another knockout from Adele Parks!

This twisty, darkly satisfying tale kept me right til the end. If you’ve ever wondered how life would unfurl after a big lottery win - or if you’ve ever wondered how greed can propel ordinary people to do awful things - you’ll eat up this book. Loved it.

Entertaining

Quite enjoyable overall—interesting ending that made me rethink events of the plot and characters’ motivations.

Unbearable

All of the characters, including the protagonist, were unbearable. But Jake was the absolute *worst*. I could not take him or Emily's disgusting attitudes. I only finished it to see if Jake got what was coming to him. SO glad to be finishes this irritating story.
