À propos de cet audio

•INSTANT NATIONAL BESTSELLER•
From nationally bestselling author K.L. Armstrong comes a new heartstopping, propulsive, race-against-the-clock thriller.

How far will you go to protect the only family you have?

When Amy Gibson's mother is brutally murdered by her boyfriend, Amy's world is completely undone. Overcome with grief and heartache, she withdraws from everything around her—college, her friends, her entire life. Until her estranged half-brother, Oliver, saves her, pulling her back into her life and giving her family. Giving her a home.

Eight years later, she's picked herself up and has worked hard to move forward. She’s the host of a popular true crime podcast that focuses on crimes against women committed by their partners and is finding purpose and healing through helping women in ways she couldn't help her mother.

And then Oliver is accused of the unthinkable—something that is so unlike him. Something that horrifies Amy. But desperate to save the only family she has, she sets out to prove her brother's innocence.

But as the days pass and more information about Oliver and his past slowly comes to light, Amy begins realizing that nothing is ever as it seems—especially when it comes to family.

While the narrator did a great job with the characters. I found the plot not that interesting. I love Kelley Armstrong novels for her characters, and plot development usually. I feel like this novel fell flat for me.

Not one of Kelley Armstrong's best

I always love to read a good little mystery. this one kept me going back and forth on who did it, and has lots of interesting pieces to keep me invested in the story!

Love a good mystery

I really enjoyed this novel. It mirrors the way that domestic abuse escalates and exposes itself to victims/survivors and uses that mirroring to drive the suspense and intrigue of the novel. It has the typical surreal/dramatic elements of domestic thrillers that makes them captivating while also creating real and relatable characters struggling with real and relatable issues around abuse, sexism, and power. It was a bit too (albeit subtly) pro cop for me, especially because it's Canadian and the narrator is a PhD student studying domestic abuse (as a Canadian with a doctorate in the social sciences and who examines violence I don't believe this is a realistic perspective for her to have) but otherwise it's good. The narrator is also great; highly recommend.

Thoughtful, slow burn suspense

I really enjoyed the story as it was intriguing, captivating so one wanted to keep reading out who was the REAL killer.
