Disappointed with ending
The story unfolds well & is expertly narrated, but I was so disappointed with the implausible ending & sickly sweet epilogue that I almost regret listening to the book.

Lifetime Movie
This was what I'd call a guilty pleasure, okay in a Lifetime Movie Chickflick kinda way. The abusive marriage is well described, and the characters were likable enough so that I kept reading just to see how it turned out - in spite of the fact that it was all pretty predictable. The main narrator does a fine job. The person reading Sophie, the daughter, has a peculiar speech pattern that's distracting (but not a deal-breaker) in that her voice lifts up at the end of sentences making almost everything sound like a question, even chapter titles like "Chapter 44? Sophie?" And. She pauses? In odd places? Anyway - not exactly great literature, but I admit to binge-reading this one anyway.

Predictable and annoying performance
The story started off well but then fell flat as the author tired to drag it out. Became very predictable and unbelievable.
Also the voice was the daughter was like nails on a chalk board.

NEVER Again!
Poor writing. Poor Narration. Sophomoric, like written by a 13 year old and the narration is unbelievable, like it can sometimes make you laugh at its amateurish quality. I have enjoyed her previous novels, but I think she has gotten worse over time. Also, its quite the man-hater novel and I'm a man. Probably not wise to tick off half your potential pool of readers. In her previous novels she hated her mother and in others her father, maybe she's just a hater. I rarely write review but felt compelled to write this one.

Intense story!
What did you like best about this story?
I liked all the different characters, and the many unexpected moments. Halfway thru, there was a twist I did NOT see coming!
What does Rachel Fulginiti and Caitlin Davies bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The narration was great, both readers portrayed their character so realistically that I actually got knots in my own stomach a few times, feeling the fear or anxiety!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
"The lady with the absolute worst luck with the men in her life"
Any additional comments?
Like another reader said, I did figure it out too towards the end, but still wanted to make sure. I wasn't disappointed though, and the ending was intense!

Performance is everything!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I felt that the book was predictable but not terrible. Lame is the best way to describe it. The narrators killed it. The mom narrator was decent but the teen narrator was cringe worthy. I couldn't stand her voice, slow delivery, attempt to sound young, attempt to sound somewhat dumb.
What do you think your next listen will be?
Nothing by this author or anything that has these narrators in it.
Would you be willing to try another one of Rachel Fulginiti and Caitlin Davies ’s performances?
NO! Irritating
