At least one dragon remains, and military scientists from the Cofah Empire are experimenting with its blood, using the magical substance to power deadly new weapons that could be used to bring the world to its knees. That's a concern for Zirkander, Cas, and the rest of the Iskandians, but all Tolemek wants is to find his missing sister. The last time he saw her, their father had locked her in an asylum because of a mental illness with no cure. Now the military has taken her. What use the Cofah have for her, Tolemek can only guess, but he is certain she is in danger. He must save her before it's too late. But her fate is inexplicably tied to the dragon's, and he must find it to find her.

I just started listening to books and came across this Dragon Blood series by Lindsay Buroker and have to say that I quite enjoyed the first 3 books. The writing is easy to understand and there are a few quirky moments to keep my interest. Unfortunately, this 4th book left me a little disappointed, mainly because of the story line.

The narrator carries most of the characters quite well and I admire her consistency with timbre and tone. It’s fairly easy to follow and I might try the next one to see if it was just a ‘bad egg’!

Great story arc and characters. Not the most developed or sophisticated fantasy novel, in my experience, but one of my top 10 for sure.

The fourth book picks up immediately after the third with the crew searching for where the dragon blood is coming from. Jungles, strange diseases, action, and the ever present sass of the soul blade keeps the story chugging along.
It was great to be back in the pirates head. I like him.

I found this book a bit hard to get into at first, but once I was about 2/3 through, I couldn’t stop listening!

I gave this a five star rating because of the action and awesome twists and turns in the storyline. The characters are relatable and the depth of the characters continues to build. I recommend the dragon blood series to any fantasy lover who enjoys fun witted banter and a storyline that continuously evolves taking the reader by surprise. I can’t wait to start the next book in the series…

Not quite as good as the 1st 3 books in the series, but definitely A worthwhile read. I love forward to reading the next books in the series.

Sadly colonial attitude towards Indigenous people. This attitude is ignorant and disrespectful of our first people. 😒
