Publisher's Summary

A town put to the sword. The young forcibly recruited. An old man out for revenge.

The first three books in the Artorian's Archives series, over 36 hours of cultivation adventure!

After his town is put to the sword and the children are taken to replace the fallen, an old man is out for revenge. He’s ready to fail at the most difficult challenge in the world: cultivation.

Too corrupted to even take the first steps, the sly old elder simply agreed with those who told him that it was impossible. Then he quietly ignored them, rubbed his hands together, and started anyway. He had always failed in what he did: He lost his way from the academy, his command was devastated by a Mage, he lost his town, and now his last hopes for the future had been stolen by a group of raiders. The only thing that had never failed him was his sharp mind and philosophy. He would cultivate...no matter what it cost him.

A lifetime of failure can dull and dampen a soul. A reason to live, a goal, can change that in an instant. It is always darkest just before the dawn.

excellent

punch thru the first few chapters, they are confusing, a little over the place, bit once you spend a little time with the elder you wont want to stop.

Absolutely amazing series. I read the divine dungeon series before this

I must say, I was super excited to start this series with Artorian and the whole series has been a catowl hoot so far. I read the divine dungeon series and I’m VERY excited to get to book 5 and afterwards when he resides INSIDE the dungeon (which is where that series ends). I can’t wait to get my ears on the adventures that come. Artorian is a very unique individual and very deserving of a series and BOY are there a ton of books in here to listen to!

This narrator is also quite amazing and has a very dynamic voice with great accents that are congruent with the divine dungeon series (I almost can’t tell a difference between this and that for Artorian - I’m curious how he will voice Hans when we get to book 5 and if he’s in it at all). Anyways. Start the series, BUY THE CREDITS and devour these books. Onwards to the next! Book 4 here I come :D

Detail heavy with a slow plot

The books in this series all carry a common theme of being incredibly detail rich and explanation oriented. Unfortunately the plot appears to be quite slow or almost stagnant for chapters as a result which leads to a somewhat monotonous experience at times. the characters are relatively well fleshed out but again seem to suffer from an over analysis of the functions of the story world. It is quite fitting that the main character is a old man as it truly feels like one of your grandparents tall tales with the divergent thoughts and constant pondering. All in all a great series so long as you have patience and an invested interest in the magic system of the divine dungeon series... because you will be hearing ALOT about it.

excellent surprise.

I'm a little picky and I love story's of cultivation. but I have a hard time finding one's that suit my taste. I got this on a whim because you can only listen to the cradle series so many times. this was an excellent surprise. I'm really enjoying it. and a nice twist on the hero not being the normal young cultivator. Came for the Cultivation, staying for the humor now. well done!

2 hours in and still bored

I’m over 2 hrs in and so far it’s just people arguing or talking with each other with no point to the overall point of the book. Some people you have to wait until it gets better but I’ve never ignored a audiobook like this one and felt no need to rewind it as I was so bored.

I love Dakota Krouts novels and own every other one, but this series should have had him edit a bit more to move the story along.
