One of the standout pieces for me was the incredible way that the author integrated mental health representation, through first-hand experiences, into this book. The OCD and anxiety representation is thoughtfully intertwined into the storyline and into the main FMC in a way that is raw, vulnerable, and convincing. I need more stories with this level of representation!
The nine levels of hellish competitions that had to be endured by the contestants of Phantasma were dark, twisted, and full of bloodshed and I loved every minute of it! I enjoyed how the nine competitions were based on the nine circles of hell and enjoyed how the gore level just kept increasing.
The tension, chemistry and banter between Ophelia and Blackwell was wonderful and I finished the book questioning whether others also ended with a crush on a phantom.
I cannot stop recommending this book to everyone I know! I’ve already pre-ordered the second book, Enchantra and I’m excited to dive back into this gothic universe.
As always, Laura Horowitz does an incredible job performing the voices of the characters and making me love this book even more.

The story though?! So so so good. I don’t want to drop spoilers but it is definitely a high recommend!
I also love that this book is a stand alone. The whole story is here; I do not have to wait months or years for the end of the whole story.
