Publisher's Summary

The first standalone novel in The Pucked Series

With a famous NHL player for a stepbrother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation of many a hockey star. So of course she isn't interested in legendary team captain Alex Waters or his pretty, beat-up face and rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet's misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes much more than just a hot body with the face to match. Suffering from a complete lapse in judgment, Violet discovers just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants.

Violet believes her night of orgasmic magic with Alex is just that: one night. But Alex starts to call. And text. And email and send extravagant - and quirky - gifts. Suddenly he's too difficult to ignore and nearly impossible not to like. The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn't want to be part of the game.

Funny and good story

I do have to say that I was very happy by how hilarious this book was. Violet is hilarious, loved her. My only negative about this book was the narration of Alex. Ugh is all I have to say.

Narration was really good

The female narrator was really great. The male narrator was good but sounded more like a British guy rather than a Canadian. I know, I’m Canadian. But don’t let that stop you from enjoying this book.

Liked it, but...

As a Canadian, I was incredibly confused by the Irish accent on the male narrator. Luckily he doesn’t have many chapters.

Alex’s voice was all wrong

The story was ok, although typical. The female voice would have been fine for both as I found the male voice all wrong. Sounded like a pubescent Irish boy not a hunky Canadian man. All in all it was ok.

Male narrator poor

Male narrator used an Australian accent for the Canadian lead... sounded too feminine ...like a porn book not so much romance

Funny

it is a funny story, Violet is hilarious, but seriously? is that supposed to be a Canadian accent Alex has? come on.

Love this book! Hilarious, hot, and hockey!

I absolutely loved this audiobook. It was smoking hot and laugh out loud funny. My only issue was the male narrator. I would have preferred that Muffy Newtown narrated the entire book. Can't wait for book 2!

Narration

Before purchasing this book I read the reviews and thought that the male reader couldn't really be that terrible. WRONG! It was dreadful! If the reader makes or breaks a book for you think strongly before giving in to this. I loved the female reader and the story though.

Why can't we have separate reviews for each narrator?

This book was hysterically funny, with a quirky, awkward, real characters. The female narrator was fantastic. The male narrator was great when he was speaking like someone from the US. Otherwise, he sounded a cockney-Irish-Scottish guy pretending to be Canadian but sounding more confused than anything else. Usually, I look forward to a change in narrator when a new chapter starts. This is the first time I've actually groaned in defeat when the male character started a chapter. If it weren't for how incredibly talented the female narrator was, I would have returned the audiobook and instead read it on my kindle.

Great Story but what's with the accent

The characters were quirky and hilarious beginning to end but WTF with the "Canadian" accent. Irish, Scottish, Welsh. Not the sure what the hell that was. It might have passed for mangled maritime but sure as hell not Guelph. Get it right or don't bother.

Holy accent, Batman!

What was with the male narrator? He was supposed to be performing a Canadian accent, but sounded more like Scottish-British-Jersey boy. He made Alex seem creepy sometimes. Muffy should have narrated the whole book. Don’t let this turn you off from listening, because the story is beyond hilarious! Luckily, the male narrator doesn’t perform much at all.

Great story, horrible male narrator

I have been so excited for this book to make it to audible. It was not a disappointment!! Helena Hunting is a rockstar. I laughed out loud many times. The female narrator was fantastic. But the male narrator was horrific!! I mean, it had the potential to nearly ruin the book. I cringed the entire chapters that he read. It was seriously awful!!

Male narrator was horrible!

The male narrator spoiled the book for me. The female narrator did a great job.

Muffy was a hit

There's so much greatness and I'm typing from my phone so I can't list it all... I loved almost everything about this book... this author is a 1st for me but I am an instant fan... I laughed so hard....

This narration team is also a 1st for me and I must say I love Muffy! Nathan on the other hand sucked... his nasal voice was irritating. I've refunded books and/or couldn't finish them for bad narration like his BUT this book is so well written and Muffy narrates 95% of the book I dealt with Nathan's horrid narration.

✫✫ 4 Stars ✫✫

This book made me laugh a lot! Violet is was snarky and hilarious. Alex was sexy and sweet! She was expecting a one night stand and he knew from the minute they met that he wanted her in his life. Their story was sweet and very sexy! It had its predictable moments with normal romance book drama but the drama wasn't the typical avoidable drama that most books have. The sexy scenes were off the charts hot! I can't wait for book 2 on audio!

The narration was 50/50! She was great, her male and female voices were perfect and she really did the funny snarky comments perfectly. He on the other hand I didn't enjoy. His accent sounded more Irish than Canadian to me, with a few "Eh's" to remind you he was Canadian. He also didn't make him sound very manly, more high school teacher than hockey star.
