Five hundred years of fighting demons and humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction. As the last bastion of the remaining humans is shattered, Bran Heros, the Wandering King, decides to enact a last ditch effort.

This time when the demons first come he’s going to be waiting. He might not be as strong as he was in his past life, but he has something far more important. He has time to get ready for what’s to come and the knowledge to take advantage of every second.

Bran is going to use his second chance to gobble up resources and make himself as well as those he chooses a force to be reckoned with.

I thought with so many novels with a similar atmosphere of progression through a game like interface to the world it would just be more of the same, instead I found myself pulled in and enjoying this story to the extent I have listened to it multiple times and check regularly to see if there is an update on the arrival of the next book.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I thoroughly enjoyed most of the story even if it is a bit of a trashy power fantasy. My problem is with the fact that halfway through, it turns into a sexually explicit wish fulfillment harem novel, which isn't exactly my cup of tea. My even bigger problem is that the synopsis of the book gave absolutely no indication that this would be the case. The only slightest indication towards something like this is the busty woman on the cover, which is on a lot of fantasy crap that isn't explicit.

solid story build up, likable main and supporting characters, MC has a bit of a no nonsense anti hero vibe but is a good guy. narration is always amazing by this pair.

like the other reviews I thought this would just be another quick read, but OMG was it great. I have come back and listened to it multiple times and check at least once a week to see if the second book is out.

honestly, it's been pretty good for the first book but stats seem pretty random. no idea why some people with a B class and a lower rank have higher stats than a S grade with a higher rank.....
