Publisher's Summary
Part memoir and part guidebook, Share Your Stuff. I'll Go First. is the invitation you've been waiting for to show up with your whole self and discover the intimate, meaningful friendships you long for.
In spite of the hyper-connected culture we live in today, women still feel shamed for oversharing and being publicly vulnerable. And no matter how many friends we seem to have, many of us are still desperately lonely.
Laura Tremaine, blogger and podcaster behind 10 Things to Tell You, says it's time for something better. Openness and vulnerability are the foundation for human growth and healthy relationships, and it all starts when we share our stuff, the nitty-gritty daily details about ourselves with others. Laura has led the way in her personal life with her popular blog and podcast, and now with lighthearted self-awareness, a sensitivity to the important things in life, and compelling storytelling, Laura gives you the tools to build and deepen the conversations happening in your life.
Laura's stories about her childhood, her complicated shifts in faith and friendships, and her marriage to a Hollywood movie director will prompt you to identify the beautiful narrative and pivotal milestones of your own life. Each chapter offers intriguing and reflective questions that will reveal unique details and stories you've never thought to tell and will guide you into cultivating the authentic connection with others that only comes from sharing yourself.
So let’s get started! Share Your Stuff. I'll Go First.

misleading
I thought it was suppose to be about friendship but it was just an autobiography. Not a great one at that. If you don't move to LA to be a big famous somebody, then you're not doing it right. She pats herself on the back for this continually. I'm sure she's nice, just don't think she's a great writer or influential. But I'm a happy in my small town nobody 😉, so maybe I just don't get it. lol

I felt seen.
This book’s breakdown of chapters was what I needed to think about all of the “stuff” in my life thoughtfully and reflect on the bad and the good. The conversational nature made it feel like I could grab a glass of wine and talk to an old friend. I would definitely recommend it to anyone, but especially those with anxiety, as a way to get to the root of your thoughts and hear her own encouraging words and understanding as she talks about her anxiety.

Thought provoking and compelling
This book causes introspection, it is both light hearted and extremely deep and meaningful. It is easy to listen to but encourages you to think about your own life and experiences and how they have shaped the person you are and are becoming. Worth the listen and I plan to purchase the hard copy. Very well done.

Both helpful and heartwarming
I actually loved this. Tremaine walked a fine line of recognizing her privilege in this and conveying real life lessons that can be helpful for communication in any type of relationship with any type of background. The questions she posed were heartfelt and sincere, yet simple and overlooked. I loved how this was not a Christian book, but she recognized her Christian roots and how it’s influenced her life. I appreciated how she opened up space and grace and acknowledged throughout that people change their minds and see things differently as time goes on, without taking away or degrading from those who still might hold those beliefs. I found this a very compassionate and heartwarming read with great narration, and the foreword by Jenna Fischer was so sweet and really set up the book. I took a lot away from this!

Hit close to home and helped me self reflect!
As an Oklahoman (and Theta!), and youngest of three who packed up my life and moved to Portland after college there were so many parallels that made me feel like I was almost hearing my inner-dialogue and reliving my past in a more thoughtful, reflective manner. Laura is a captivating story teller, genuine and vulnerable and made me feel like I was listening to a friend.

Basically a memoir...
I had heard such great things about this book, I was excited to read it. I thought it would be more of the self-help genre, giving tips on how to show up more vulnerably and authentically in relationships. However, it was basically the author telling her life story. While some of the stories are poignant, overall it's a pretty basic memoir of someone who just likes to talk about themself a lot. There was really no relationship advice or tips on how to build friendships. Just some examples of questions you could ask a friend, and then a very long-winded answers from the author talking about herself. This might have been interesting, had the author more intriguing stories to share, but most of it is mundane. Reminded me of being stuck in my front year with a neighbor who accosted me and wants to tell me her life story. Hearing someone you don't know talk and talk about themself and wondering when you're going to the part that's relevant to you.
