Publisher's Summary
From the New York Times best-selling author of California Girls comes an all new original Blackberry Island novel told with Susan Mallery’s trademark humor and charm. Sisters by Choice is a heartfelt tale of love, family, and the friendships that see us through.
Cousins by chance, sisters by choice...
After her cat toy empire goes up in flames, Sophie Lane returns to Blackberry Island, determined to rebuild. Until small-town life reveals a big problem: She can’t grow unless she learns to let go. If Sophie relaxes her grip even a little, she might lose everything. Or she might finally be free to reach for the happiness and love that have eluded her for so long.
Kristine has become defined by her relationship to others. She’s a wife, a mom. As much as she adores her husband and sons, she wants something for herself - a sweet little bakery just off the waterfront. She knew changing the rules wouldn’t be easy, but she never imagined she might have to choose between her marriage and her dreams.
Like the mainland on the horizon, Heather’s goals seem beyond her grasp. Every time she manages to save for college, her mother has another crisis. Can she break free, or will she be trapped in this tiny life forever?
Don’t miss Susan Mallery’s latest book, The Stepsisters! A heartfelt tale of friendship between two women who used to be sisters.

Not what I expected.
This was my first experience with Susan Mallory. The story was just ok, really didn’t hold my interest. Unfortunately, I felt the narrator sounded like her voice was computer generated. Sorry to be harsh, but this is my honest review.

One of the worst audibles I’ve listened to
I rarely ever write a review for movies or books, as I honestly believe that everyone’s taste is different. That being said, I frequently use other people’s reviews to decide whether or not I want to use a credit or purchase a book. Because of that I was compelled to write how much I absolutely HATED this book. The book itself wasn’t terrible, although it also wasn’t very good. But the narrator ruined any ounce of enjoyment that I possibly could have mustered. I owned the actual book, and when I had a very long road trip, I decided to download the Audio version. I HATE that I wasted a credit on this. In all honesty, the narrator sounded like more sophisticated version of Siri. Very choppy and short. All words with Ts were extremely sharp and jarring. Sentences didn’t sound like they flowed at all, and for some characters, it even sounded like audio was pieces together. It was so abrupt and inflowing that if I could, I would have given this audio book and it’s performance a zero. Alas, I made sure to note the narrator’s name and will never purchase a book she is speaking in. And more than likely, I doubt I will ever read another one of this author’s books due to the stereotypical and saccharine characters she wrote about. Sorry to anyone that love this one, but I wish I could get my money back for everything related to it

Get a little tired of the whole "AMBER" storyline.
Hard to finish.
I can't really get a grip on anyone that would pay someone's way who would treat others like Amber does. Even stealing from her?! Ludicrous!

First Susan Mallery book I don't like :-(
I don't think there has ever been a Susan Mallery book that I haven't enjoyed and I've read (listened to) probably at least 90% of them. I just could not like these characters. In the previous books from this series, I've disliked characters but then grow to love them by the end of the book. I can't stand how they handled Amber. I feel like the characters disappointed me and didn't learn anything. Tanya Eby was fabulous as always, but I just can't get past the plot.

Was this really Susan Mallory?
I am just dumbfounded. When I saw Susan Mallory had a new book that was going to be narrated by Tonya Eby I was so happy that I pre-ordered. This was literally the worst book ever. The characters were loathsome. I don’t finish books I don’t like but I kept thinking for sure she was going to pull it out in the end. Not sure what’s up with that but I’ll be more careful next time.
