Publisher's Summary

In this Star Wars audio original, delve into the cutthroat world of one of the High Republic’s greatest foes, the merciless Lourna Dee.

The Nihil storm has raged through the galaxy, leaving chaos and grief in its wake. Few of its raiders are as vicious as the Tempest Runner Lourna Dee. She stays one step ahead of the Jedi Order at the helm of a vessel named after one of the deadliest monsters in the galaxy: the Lourna Dee. But no one can outrun the defenders of the High Republic forever.

After the defeat of her crew, Lourna falls into the hands of the Jedi - but not before she hides her identity, becoming just another Nihil convict. Her captors fail to understand the beast they have cornered. Just like every fool she’s ever buried, their first mistake was keeping her alive.

Lourna is determined to make underestimating her their last.

Locked onto a Republic correctional ship, she's dragged across the galaxy to repair the very damage she and her fellow Tempest Runners inflicted on it. But as Lourna plans her glorious escape, she makes alliances that grow dangerously close to friendships. Outside the Nihil - separated from her infamous ship, her terrifying arsenal, and her feared name - Lourna must carve her own path. But will it lead to redemption? Or will she emerge as a deadlier threat than ever before?

This is the worst book I have ever read

The story is week and the performance of the audiobook was horrible. This is most likely the last high republic era book I ever buy.

Radio Drama with a lot of flashbacks

While the performance is excellent, the radio drama format is a lot less detailed and can be harder to follow. 2/3 of the story is flashbacks which was disappointing.

Love that Star Wars is expanding this way.

As a fan of radio and audio dramas, I love that Star Wars is expanding into this form of media. Voice cast is excellent, many of them I'm familiar with as audio book narrators. An excellent look at Laurna Dee, and others as well. Hope more of these are released in future.

Top notch production, engaging and essential read.

As always, production was top notch. Had some issues differentiating one or two characters talking to each other early on but as the cast got larger it became easier. The story was more varied than I expected. Initial impressions was that it was going to be similar to the Phasma book and wouldn't have any forward progress in the High Republic timeline but it exceeded expectations there and is essential reading if you want to keep up with everything. Even managed to keep the main character from straying too far from her established position and going into the tired antivillain with a secretly good heart cliche which was quite welcome.

the only bad thing about Cavan Scott is that he leaves you wanting more (in a good way)!

well done

This book wasn't like any of the Star Wars books I've listened to so far. The collaboration of all these narrations made this book one of my favorites.

A great character study!

Tempest Runner is a great character story that is a wonderful addition to the rest of the High Republic media. The production value of this audio drama is astounding, and helps give these characters a strong voice, enhancing the other books and comics in the High Republic.

I was skeptical at first of a whole book about Lourna Dee, but boy was I in for a treat! This Audio Drama was SO enjoyable! I listened to the whole thing in a day because it was just that good! I NEED MORE LOURNA NOW!

good story, overacting by the performers

it was a good story line but the performance was over blown and over the top and distracting from the experience.

Disappointing

The production and quality of the star wars recordings is always phenomenal. I was just disappointed in this particular story. I thought the Lorna Dee character was alright as part of the villain group in previous books of this series. But I liked her less and less in this book. I felt like I was supposed to feel sorry for her from her back story and what it's made her become but I don't. I dislike her more and find her annoying and was really disappointed in the outcome of this story.

Awesome

Yet another great entry in the High Republic saga! Performances are fantastic all around and it's great to see recurring characters have their backstories and personalities fleshed out. I thought it was a lot of fun! It definitely helped having read most of the other High Republic content to date because there are some things that might not make sense to those who don't have some prior knowledge of the era, particularly the Nihil and how they are structured. At any rate, I loved Tempest Runner and would highly recommend it to Star Wars fans and those who generally enjoy character-driven science fiction.

Enjoyable insight into a 'ew character

Cavan Scott is two for two as far as SW audio dramas go. Listening to the moral fall of Lourna Dee was a nice little delight as we wait for the next wave of High Republic stories. The cast did a great job portraying these characters and making them feel real.
