Publisher's Summary

Between his studies at the Varle Academy for Gifted Mages and his duties to the monster-response team, Gryff will find himself fighting not just monsters, but bandits, thugs, and a local street gang as well.

But hey, no one ever said becoming the world’s greatest summoner while also juggling three hot girlfriends would be easy. Especially when you add a fourth girl to the mix....

Meh

Main character is always great, never gets in trouble, and every woman ever wants him.

Narrator can't seem to get a proper cadence when talking, simple stuff like a character saying something and having it be followed by 'he muttered' has a delay in it like it's an entirely new sentence. It's not an infrequent problem either, it's constant and seems to be his speaking style, it's almost like listening to grade school kids when they're called by the teacher to read out loud.

I wouldn't reccomend this book, I tried getting into this from the first hoping it got better but nope. It's just bleh.

Mixed feelings...

I do enjoy the story presented and was genuinely curious as to where it could lead. It's a very interesting take on magical segregation... BUT the sheer amount of sex scenes make me want to simply throw the book aside for literally any other book. A meaningful sex scene is one thing but a sex scene for the sake of a sex scene is... For lack of a better term... Very annoying and a waste of time. On top of that there are about 20 of them, making the one that could be meaningful, absolutely meaningless...

To much sex

The writer is to focused on sex all the time. It takes away from the story!

Kind of dissatisfied with this second run.

Not sure how this was an entire story. I like the characters, and it's fun to hear them just going through the motions. However, there isn't a hell of a lot going on. Awesome stuff happens hear and there, with some nice sex scenes sprinkled in. I liked the first one, but I was blown away when I heard it was over. Look forward to seeing what shakes out in the next run.
Cheers

Like eating Taco Bell for lunch AND dinner

I listened to this right after the first one so when I say taco bell for lunch and dinner what I mean is this one is just as cheesy and deliciously bad as the first one.

Gryf is still running around being unbeatable, talented in every way, and banging almost every girl he meets. I love it, you'll love it, America loves it. I laughed at how silly the writing was and Gryf's interactions with his many ladies, I would not say any of it was...sexy so much as eye rolling. I mentioned in the first book that I was hoping that a character written to be hot, talented and super charming would also convince the reader that he was these things...because aside from some very basic compliments and cliché flirting I would not consider him as irresistible as his harem seems to.

I also have an issue with the way the sex scenes are written, I don't mind that they aren't romance novel level of explicit but as I said in my last review...Gryf has the same techniques with every lady, he does the same moves and gets the same responses and it doesn't make any of them stand out. I was also a bit bummed by his scene with Nia, he seems to genuinely care about her feelings and status and when they finally take the next step it wasn't any different...if you are going to make Nia special to Grfy then make their love scene different too. Also he apparently has a threesome with his ladies but its not explicitly stated...they were drunk and woke up naked together, why was that left out! Come on! This is a mature novel so let us get the threesome details!?

I also found most of the book to be a bit boring. The beginning had good action but the rest of it was ehhhh not interesting to me really. There was decent character development but it was just a bit boring to sit through. I still liked it and hope the third one comes to audible soon!

Too much sex

I tried to finish the 2nd book, but at least 50% of the book is either him having sex or thinking of sex. I would have chosen differently if I wanted to read smut.

stop the crappy writing

the reader is great. the story is amazing. the sex scenes are pointless and sound like the are written by someone else. like a 14 year old intern. I'm fine with them as long as they are a part of the story, these do nothing for the story and break you away from it.

Same problems as the first and then some

The laundry list explanations continue in the sequel. I wanted to give the second book a try because I like the premise but it fell flat. the ending was also rather abrupt without anything seemingly been accomplished.

It's what it's supposed to be

This is not the greatest book in the world. It's not supposed to be. It's entertaining and funny.

Steamy Sequel

This book picks up where things left up and does not disappoint. Vall creates a really perfect blend of world building, sex, and action with this. The relationship between Gryff, his friends, and mentor has so much heart. A great series.

Could have been good

This book could have been great, I still enjoyed it enough, but it's a mix of a teen fantasy novel and romance novel. The main story is decently written and quite enjoyable, and if not for the sex, it would be great for young tend to read.

However, it's filled with absolutely pointless and unnecessary sex scenes that aren't even good. They're beyond unrealistic, because sure, it's a fantasy book, but really, this is ridiculous.

If I had known what I know now I wouldn't have read this book.
