Barliona: a virtual world jam-packed with monsters, battles - and, predictably, players. Millions of them come to Barliona, looking forward to the things they can't get in real life: elves and magic, dragons and princesses, and unforgettable combat. The game has become so popular that players now choose to spend months online without returning home. In Barliona, anything goes: You can assault fellow players, level up, become a mythical hero, a wizard, or a legendary thief. The only rule that attempted to regulate the game demanded that no player be allowed to feel actual pain. But there's an exception to every rule. For a certain bunch of players, Barliona has become their personal hell. They are criminals sent to Barliona to serve their time. They aren't in it for the dragons' gold or the abundant loot. All they want is to survive the virtual inferno. They face the ultimate survival quest.

Jonathan Yen is an incredible narrator. I'm huge into LitRPG's and he is my favorite narrator by far. I keto coming back to this series, I'm on listen 3 or 4. easily the best I've series of any genre that I've been exposed to. love the writing, love the characters more than anything. I find that I keep thinking of them all in my normal life, causing more listening. can't say enough great things. thank you Vasily Mahanenko. wait....I just got it, Mahan, the name of the lead character, author named gingerly as the lead. Embarrassing that I just figured this out.

For fans of LiteRPG's, Vasily Mahanenko has managed to create a world in which readers/listeners can truly emerge themselves in the world of Barliona. Mahanenko has managed to create a story that is unique in which the main character must not only find a way to survive in a virtual world, but also in reality. A great balance between fantasy and reality, with plot twists and character development written in ways that only work to further entice the reader/listener.

Overall this is one of my favorite series, it gives the readers/listeners a chance to relate to the characters in the story and escape our reality into the world of Barliona page by page.
