Publisher's Summary

The million-copy, New York Times bestselling Murderbot series is back in another full-length novel adventure!

Am I making it worse? I think I'm making it worse.

Everyone's favorite lethal SecUnit is back.

Following the events in Network Effect, the Barish-Estranza corporation has sent rescue ships to a newly colonized planet in peril, as well as additional SecUnits. But if there's an ethical corporation out there, Murderbot has yet to find it, and if Barish-Estranza can't have the planet, they're sure as hell not leaving without something. If that something just happens to be an entire colony of humans, well, a free workforce is a decent runner-up prize.

But there's something wrong with Murderbot; it isn't running within normal operational parameters. ART's crew and the humans from Preservation are doing everything they can to protect the colonists, but with Barish-Estranza's SecUnit-heavy persuasion teams, they're going to have to hope Murderbot figures out what's wrong with itself, and fast!

Yeah, this plan is... not going to work.

Continued growth of Murderbot, exploring more of what it takes to be human as well as what it is to be free

Gosh, that hearty dose of wittiness and deadpan takes, delivered by Kevin R. Free is 👌

Pulse-pounding!

This is another fantastic installment in the Murderbot series. I had to listen to it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down! I loved the added complexity to Murderbot's mental health and personal growth. As per usual, Kevin R. Free's narration is on point!

Oh how I’ve missed Murderbot and ART snark

Don’t try to listen to the last 2-3 hours while drifting off to sleep. Because it’s too action packed and you won’t sleep. LOL
I would recommend re reading the one before this if it’s been a while as it picks up where the previous one left off. I had some issues recalibrating my brain to where we were in the story. I’m going to go back now and re listen to the one prior to this.

Loved it.

Boring

I gave up after 2 hours of listening. Nothing and I mean nothing happened in 2 hours. No action, lots of unnecessary meaningless conversations mixed up with primitive humor.

same story, new humans. nothing notable.

overall easy read, action packed but nothing really memorable that distinguishes from previous entries. I wished the author would develop the human side character more, as it is, it seems that each new installment will just get brand new recycled human side characters that don't really distinguish themselves from the previous ones. The ones that do get reuse don't really do anything and don't get developed, they're just there as murderbot's buddies. I will say that I like the narration though.

“Add on” story, okay overall.

Performance was good. Murderbot’s <redacted> resolution is “oh, now that I know what it is, I can manage” is a little underwhelming. There isn’t enough character development to write a whole story for, so she didn’t! Just extended a story already written, like a student repurposing an essay from another class. I was happy to see my favorite characters but was left a little disappointed.

Same same same

After several lengthy books the same robot is still trying to help the hapless mortals battle the mean corporate entity and their henchmen as he discovers his humanity.

Pinocchio? ….. ya pretty much.

No overarching story.

Most boring instalment of the series

My least favourite book of murderboat series. Could not get engaged with story at all.
