Publisher's Summary

Breaking news: The bad boy of baseball, Maddox Paige, is totally and utterly whipped.

Okay, that might not be the headline in the newspaper this morning, but it's the reality of my current situation. It all started a month ago when I received a call from my best friend, Kinsley. She’d gotten a new job in Chicago and needed a place to stay. I've known the girl since I was five, so I figured there wouldn't be any harm in having her stay at my place for a while.

Ha! Total disaster.

Now instead of going out every night with my teammates, I'm couch surfing and sketching endless portraits of my best friend...but that's the least of my concerns. The disaster, you ask? I'm rapidly falling head-over-cleats in love with my best friend, my roommate, and my number one fan.

And she has no idea....

Spicy and fun

Fun read, spice level 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. Female narrator was a bit monotone but overall good! Would recommend if you’re looking for a mindless, super sexy read.

Female lead ruined it!

I wanted to love this story but the overbearing, whiny female lead ruined it. I hoped she’d change a bit over time, so I stuck with the book but unfortunately she stayed annoying til the end. This could have been a great love story if it had a stronger female character

Good and Bad

There’s some really enjoyable aspects in this story. But I’m completely weirded out by the depiction of a bunch of fist fights in baseball. Baseball. It’s not hockey people. Also, the female leads fear that he’s going be abusive is unreasonable. They act like he’s the only one who is so affected by his past, but I think SHE is more negatively impacted by his childhood. Just because the dude is angry and looks like his dad doesn’t mean he’s going to act like His dad. We all get angry sometimes. We all yell sometimes. Plus, the catalyst for “boy loses girl” is unrealistic. No person, even a little bit sane, wouldn’t turn around and say “did you invite him here” and no girl, upon not being asked wouldn’t say “hey, I didn’t invite him here.” Seriously, why do authors quote grown ass adults like teenagers with zero basic communication skills!?

Almost perfect!

Okay, holy crap! First, congrats Meghan Quinn, first book I have enjoyed THAT kind of sex scene. 😲👏🏼😏 Now, onward... I appreciated the emotional vulnerability of Maddox but Kinsley cried way too much and was super pushy which made her kinda dis-likable. I started with this story so I am going back to the first two. They weren’t listed as a series but more like stand-alones and I would have enjoyed reading them in order, the only thing about that is I didn’t do my research and REALLY wanted to listen to Connor Crais read to me 🔥🔥🔥, so the fault is on me. Still, this was some good story telling! Highly recommended!

LOVE THIS BOOK

My favorite book in this series!!! I love Maddox and Kinsley’s friendship and their pure love for each other. His friendship with the guys is a true testament to the man he is!

Fav character in the baseball series!

I absolutely loved the inner dialogue of the male protagonist. Dream guy. I thought she was a cross of Pollyanna and Phoebe from Friends but she was endearing.

Sorry but I’m team Maddox,

:This isn’t the first Megan Quinn book that the LMC is made out to be the bad guy. This isn’t the first time I was on their side,

I love Connor Crais but his female voice isn’t the best. I always like the scratchy voice of Kelsey

Spoiler:

If you know someone your whole life, know the anger problem they are working on, have pushed them over and over breaking all the requests they have made of you and know they worry that you’ll leave them ask you for one thing gets drunk and angry shouldn’t you be smart enough to at least know they were just pushed too far even if he is confused. Shouldn’t you be willing to at least listen to them after they are sober. Years and years and you just give it up like that. I can see not talking until you know they are calmed down.

Then there is the invitation, understandable.

One of the best in the series

This was my 7th Meghan Quinn book and one of my favorites in the Brentwood Collection.

This one is great as it takes two best friends on a more realistic journey for their relationship including the mistakes and make-good. Its less angsty and more real in dealing with the growth of the characters.

Maddox has some serious personal hurdles to get past and he is less than perfect but Kinsley is a great leading FMC in holding up a mirror for him to see himself. He also leaned heavily on the wider Brentwood narrative and their “family” was pretty cool.

Smart, strong and real FMC's are really cool. Kinsley is the right blend of strong and soft.

I like that Kinsley wasn’t all spitfire. She was very centred and simply knew who she was and what she wasn’t. No compromise. It made the story flow better even when it was difficult.

Another element I liked about the story was how Maddox worked hard and for his redemption in a realistic way.
Another element I hated about earlier stories – and I know it’s the trope for this series - is the prolonged dragging out of the plot twist – THIS ONE IS LESS DRAGGED OUT and a lot more REAL.

I really liked the way their story was put together. The story felt real and natural and the relationships really vibed.

Worth the read

This one is worth the listen. Didn’t think it would be worth it with all the negative reviews about the females Character voice. It’s not bad at all. At time it can be rough but worth finishing the series
