Welcome my friends!

Welcome...to “The Land"!

The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss.

What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

The only problem is that this monster of a man is being pursued by monsters, a demon, and his own foolish choices. Faced with all the dangers of the deep dark, what will Richter say when the buried horrors of The Land come a calling and asked if he's paid his dues?

Well he'll look right back, stare that horror in the eye, and say, "Yes sir, the check is in the mail!"

Welcome back my friends! Welcome back...to The Land!

Somewhat Lacking

As usual Nick Podhel delivered a wonderful performance. If I had have known how this story would play out however I would likely have waited until the next book was available before starting this one. While I cannot deny the story helped to develop the land's mechanics it simply didn't deliver the same adventure I've appreciated in Aleron's other narratives. Perhaps I had unreal expectations from the long wait between books but it felt like a build up to the main story more than a story in itself. When it got to the end I found myself surprised. It was a long build up with no climax. I know Aleron is planning on coming out with the next book in October so hopefully the meat of the story will be found there. He is a talented writer so I'm hoping for the best.

Interesting but underwelming

To say I was excited to listen to the 8th installement of The Land would be an understatement. I don’t know if it’s because Aleron Kong set the bar so high with the other 7 books, but this latest performance was underwelming to me. It felt more like a chapter then a complete rendering. The overall plot line BARELY advanced... I am still a Fan... I was just looking forward for more.

This one was a bit anti climactic.

I like this series and will continue to but wish more had happened this book.

Disappointing

I love the Land but this book is such a letdown, it’s so disappointing that I skip parts wen I re-listen to it. He forgets that he’s got the ice dagger spell and instead used a Bone club. I’ve noticed that he’s a total Moron here and there and forgets to think and use his head and won’t ask for help and just assumes that it will work out.

Interesting story but Less “the land” and more “the tunnel”

I’ve enjoyed all of the books in this series so far and this one though enjoyable was far short of what I’ve learned to expect.
Where the rest of the books in Aleron’s Land series consistently develop the world and all its characters while primarily following The main characters journey this entry focuses solely on the protagonist.
There are significant changes to the character in this book which are interesting but take up so much time to process I found myself wanting to skip chapters just to get back to the story.
We are also left with a cliff hanger regarding significant side characters right off the bat that are not resolved or even discussed further in to the story.
Nick Podohl’s narration is fantastic but even with such a great voice actor hearing just the one characters perspective for so long gets dull by the end.

5 star performance
1/5 star Story.

Ummm?

Love the series, huge fan but this book was him upgrading his stats and reading prompts for 10 hours after his big battle in the last book. Then he fights like three monsters in 6 hours after that. Then just had a preview of his new series which I turned off after he describes a 3 year old being eaten alive while crying for his dad....

Been waiting months for a new the land book and this did not give me my fix, I’ll be buying the next one just hopes if he keeps it like this book was he makes it 40 hours long or he goes back to his previous style of a bit more taking place during a book.

Leaves much to be desired from a great series

Nick did a great job of narration, but the story leaves much to be desired compared to the other books in the series. Way to many notifications, and when you reach a point of there can't be any more there is. I'm still interested in seeing more of the series just hope there is more guts to the next one.

This one let me down

I love the series, the author, the narrator... it’s all love, but this book was not balanced, too much time was spent on notifications and explications of the points system and it’s options... I found myself longing for real world action but barely nothing happens in the book. I mean I could probably tell you all that happened in 5 minutes. The interface and notifications parts were not bad or boring or anything like that, it was all a good read, but in the end there was just too much of it in relation to the actual story that I was let down. Knowing this the book is still worth a read if you like the story, just don’t expect that much progress in the storyline.

Message to Author:
Please in future try to strike a half and half balance, real world vs notifications and point allocation, the book would be so much more enjoyable! 90 to 10 just does not do it!

Not as good as the rest of the series.

Barely anything happens in this installment. Also, the ending blows chunks. It's like he took the most boring fight and gave up after and dropped his pen... I've had enough, send money. Next book better be long and have lots of story or I'm done with the series. Nick phodel's narration saved the experience. If he ever loses Nick this is over...
