Welcome my friends!

Welcome...to “The Land"!

The battle of the dead was won, but at a great cost. Sion, leader of the Mist Village, was left with only pain and regret as Richter was claimed by the abyss.

What no one but the abandoned chaos seed knows is that he narrowly avoided the curse of the lich Singh, a curse that still hangs above his head. Now, surrounded by miles of darkness and tons of crushing rock, Richter has to find his way back into the light.

The only problem is that this monster of a man is being pursued by monsters, a demon, and his own foolish choices. Faced with all the dangers of the deep dark, what will Richter say when the buried horrors of The Land come a calling and asked if he's paid his dues?

Well he'll look right back, stare that horror in the eye, and say, "Yes sir, the check is in the mail!"

Welcome back my friends! Welcome back...to The Land!

3/5 story 6/5 narrator

honestly this is not my favourite of the series. some of the stat scenes drag on a little too long. but as always, Nick's narration makes it way better and keeps me attached to the book untill it's over.

the series itself is amazing but this is definitely not the best book in it

Still the best!!

Tho the book isn't on the same level as the last one in terms of progression and content, this is still HANDS DOWN the best litrpg on audible. While I personally love listening to Richter level up,get new skills and make tough decisions I can understand why after such a wait some might be disappointed with what little we get ,especially after the full course meal that was Predator.

There were a few chapters that really didn't need to be added in at all, and the bit where Richter does a inner monologue about why he should/shouldn't do something...and then proceeds to do the opposite gets kinda old and seems like its only used to meet a word count.

Dispite those little gripes if you made it to book eight you already know what my boy Alerons about. The college frat level humor, the pop culture references, the borderline word porn of stats and progression systems, the promises on the horizon..its incredible that we have just scratched the surface of what the land has to offer and we are 8 books in!

Keep em coming king kong! And never change!

Deception

The narration with Nick is flawless as always. The story though, is a complete deception. It feels like it's a filler that they try to sell for the real deal. For sure the worst of The Land.

Well done but was expecting more progress...

Great story but wanted more progress in the story. Some of the previous books were shorter in terms of hours like book 1, 3 and 6 but there was more progress in the story-line. Maybe we were spoiled by book 7 that was 46hrs long. This book too a while and I guess my expectation was that it would cover more ground.

I can see how this book is building groundwork for later books but there needs to be a balance between story and world building.

Still buying the next book...but would appreciate it coming sooner or covering more ground.

Still my favorite book series at the moment.

sadly disappointed

Struggled to pay and overall disappointed

Book 7 was definitely my favourite in the series and i sincerely hoped the win train would continue. however everything i loved about the series was exempt from this one.

I understand that stories have lulls, and it's fun to witness your protagonist in different situations but none of these interested me.

A quarter of the book is leveling up, but he doesn't use what he'd learned in interesting ways. I will read hos next one but my expectations have most defintely soured

great series but seems like 1/2 a book

I love the series but had high expectations going into this book after waiting so long yet was very disappointed. feal like it was just haft a book. I will still wait for next one cause it's going to be amazing with all the lead up! but would have rather had the entire book at once not a filler.

Just perfect

Aleron Kong and Nick Poedell do it again! While this book is more of a transition book like the days a d&d party spends traipsing through a forest before reaching the next town this book is still exciting and the gains from the previous books final battle will lead to some interesting experiences in the future. Crush your enemies, honour your allies, Live!

Skip this one

I bought this against my better judgement. I read this in text as soon as it came out. It's just well a failure. It focuses solely on the main character without progressing any other storyline. Even then the storyline doesn't progress. Good editing could have reduced this literary vomit to 3 or 4 hours at most. Just pass. Read a summary and wait for a better chapter this one is inconsequential. Also be aware that some reviews might not be objective listeners...I'm all about this series I love it but I'm not a fan of brigideries...and each chapter should be judged by it's own merits. I totally believe everyone else loves this but I dont

So much pointless stats, Really only half a book

So, unfortunately the reviews of the hard copy were right and I completely understand why Aleron took so long with this. It is because he has run out of material and just fills his books with stat and skill descriptions a mile long. It is a 16 hour book. after 7 hours of reading, just under 5 HOURS, and I mean that not exaggerating, of it are just stat and skill description. A lot of which are REPEATED multiple times as if you are dumb and didn't remember and CONSTANT summaries of all the other books, sometimes also repeated. @Aleron this is your 8th book dude we know what happened you don't need to waste our time telling us what we already read.

In those 7 hours, all that actually happens is, one fight with big bugs (not very interesting), he chooses an upgrade which takes way to long, and a "mental battle" with a demon (in which to win your bar needs to be bigger than the others and the bar is determined at the start and there is nothing you can do to win against someone with a bigger bar so fighting it out is pointless when the bars have numerical values....) so pointless. It is sort of like he changed his mind of what was supposed to happen and didn't do it very well. I won't say more as not to ruin everything but it does NOT get better.

Nick Podehl is the only reason I was able to get through this book. His performance was absolutely amazing. This book does not ruin the series but this book sucks hard. If you ever re-read this series once this is all done you will just skip this book as it is just filler trash non-sense.

Good to be back!

Author and narrator are my very favorite combo on Audible! This part of the story introduced new skills and abilities which I can’t wait to see come to fruition in The Land. Beware of the curse and can’t wait for the next book xD

Another winner by Dr Kong and Nick Podehl.

Another winner in the series of The Land. Feeling like a kid at Christmas I arose this morning to listen to The Land:Monster's read by The Songbird of our generation Nick Podehl. An absolutely perfect time for us to get a blessed distraction from all the Chaos in our real world today.

beware of the curse while awaiting the next Set of Chapters in the life of a Chaos Seed.

He did it again!

So I read the book and I loved it. Now that I have listened to Nick read it I freaking love it. The sound effects and voices bring it to life once again. Nicks voice acting just takes it to a whole new level. As long as these two are putting something out I will be reading and listening to it.

New Twists!!

Love this entire series! This book is different than the previous 7 in regards to story focus and supporting characters. That being said once i came to terms with that I LOVED this story!! Introduction to whole new mechanics and skills that will be huge down the line.

Reading about Richter in this new way was eye opening, and i cant wait to see where the story goes from here!

Dropped The Ball

Story:
The series is amazing maybe my all time favorite depending on how it continues to develop. With that said this book just missed the mark unlike the rest of the series it doesn't move the story forward and barely presents any valuable information it feels more like a fan service filler you'd do between books than a book itself. I would highly recommend this series as a whole but as an avid fan this book was a big let down.

Narration:
Nick Podehl was amazing as always.

Absolutely Amazing!!

I absolutely loved the addition to the series! It may not not seem like a lot at first but as read in depth information, it begins to seem like this is just the beginning in more way than one for the story. This book in series, I would say, marks where the real adventure begins and action starts picking more than ever before!
