Publisher's Summary

The National Best Seller and a Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine Book Club Pick

“Will keep you up. In a ‘can’t put it down’ way. It’s ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’ with XX chromosomes.” (The Skimm)

“Deliciously duplicitous. . . . equally as twisty, spellbinding, and addictive as Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl or Paula Hawkins’s The Girl on the Train.” (Library Journal, starred review)

Amber Patterson is fed up. She's tired of being a nobody: a plain, invisible woman who blends into the background. She deserves more - a life of money and power like the one blond-haired, blue-eyed goddess Daphne Parrish takes for granted.

To everyone in the exclusive town of Bishops Harbor, Connecticut, Daphne - a socialite and philanthropist - and her real-estate mogul husband, Jackson, are a couple straight out of a fairy tale.

Amber's envy could eat her alive...if she didn't have a plan. Amber uses Daphne's compassion and caring to insinuate herself into the family's life - the first step in a meticulous scheme to undermine her. Before long Amber is Daphne's closest confidante, traveling to Europe with the Parrishes and their lovely young daughters and growing closer to Jackson. But a skeleton from her past may undermine everything that Amber has worked toward, and if it is discovered, her well-laid plan may fall to pieces.

With shocking turns and dark secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, The Last Mrs. Parrish is a fresh, juicy, and utterly addictive thriller from a diabolically imaginative talent.

I gave it 20 chapters and gave up

This book literally takes forever and you are not even excited for the main character to accomplish what she is doing bc there is literally no reason for her to be so terrible. There are tiny snippets of her backstory but they don't even make sense. I got tired of listening to the main character complaining about how hard her life is. Don't do it.

Deeply Problematic

The narrator for Amber's role was a bit grating and hard to get used to.

Overall, I thought this book was terrible. The characters one dimensional and unbelievable.

The ending was horrific and it seemed like the author tried to convince you the actions of the one likable character were justified (they weren't).
This book is deeply problematic and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Easy quick read

I do enjoy books that have 2 sided POV storytelling. The first half of this one was overly cliched with the ‘conniving, evil one and tbh tiresome at times...but you were hooked in to see the unfolding.

Interesting on the back half- this truly drew me in!

A tidy clean up at end and so I would say this is an easy beach read .

Unexpected!!! Best end!

End is key! Obsessed with both women’s stories! I never seen any of the wild ride coming. Just when you think you know what’s going to happen. Boom!

narrator sounds like an echo dot, very robotic

the narrator was very distracting, I wish I could have read this book. the attempt at different voices just missed the mark. the story itself is pretty good, predictable to someone who reads a lot of mystery/suspense but well told. I gave a 4 star review because the author shouldn't be held accountable for the jarring narration.

Well…

Some parts were hard to listen to but it was a good book with twists I didn’t see coming.

Comically bad story, robotic narration

This story tries so hard it's funny. it's a parody of what moneyed people do by someone who constantly had to remind the reader how sophisticated and classy everything is by actually telling you "xyz is so sophisticated and classy". The characters and plot are vapid. The narrator sounds like an AI robot - monotone, braindead- like the book itself. What a dumpster fire of a book. I would laugh of I hadn't lost 1 credit over it.

Fantastic book!

This is the best book I’ve listened to in a while! A great sequel after The First Shot.

Well Written Characters and Engaging Story

I must admit I spent some moments doubting whether to continue reading this book through the first half exploring Amber's character. The real story begins to unfold when you see things from Daphne perspective. And trust me, it's worth the wait. The voice acting was a little cringe worthy at first (just hire a male voice actor. Please. It really takes you out of the story to hear what sounds like a pubescent teenage boy trying to drop his voice). Otherwise, the performance was well done.

Gripping

It starts out slow and repetitive but worth the read all the way to the end
