loved this story

My first book by this author and it will definitely not be the last. A very well plotted story told so well by an excellent narrator. I absolutely loved it.

Great!

I really enjoyed this novel. It deals with hoarding which makes me sick to even think about but it did help me understand how things slowly go from cluttered to overwhelming and the affect it can have on a family. Great story-lines for each family member and a novel that make allow you to have more compassion for people in this situation.

Gripping book with the best narration

The story is incredible and the way it is told and narrated makes it easy to follow. I am generally really bad at following stories with many characters because I get confused who is who. But the way this was written and especially the way it was narrated was absolutely INCREDIBLE. Made to so easy to follow. The story was slow at times but in a nice way. I wish there was a sequel because I don’t want to say goodbye to the characters.

Helen Duff is incredible. Love the voice-over!

I now have a new tag line. WOW. I laughed every time it was said especially when the sexy trainer said it.. I am so glad I did not have a hard cover I would have peeked at the ending for sure and ruined it all. Loved this book, even more because I found it on a daily deal, its worth the $ and the read. I'm sad its over.

Another home run.

I always enjoy books by Lisa Jewell. This one was not as dark as some I've read by her, but there were a lot of surprises. It was awesome to visit all the different types of family in this book. I liked the diverse backgrounds of each character and how they eventually find a shared path.

Extraordinary Stories

I am probably not Lisa Jewel’s target demographic, but I love her stories. The characters are relatable and real. Helen Duff’s narration is wonderful. The Making of Us is my 5th listen in a row from Lisa Jewell with Duff’s narration. I Found You, The Third Wife, Before I Met You and Then She Was Gone are all amazing. Keep them coming Lisa Jewell, this 54 year old American male will continue to listen.

Best book I've read in a long time!

I was hooked within the first 30 minutes. There are so many characters and the narrator is brilliant at differentiating them all. It's not a romantic idea, (the basis of the book) but somehow I still felt swept up by the storytelling. This is my second book to read by Lisa Jewell. The first, "I Found You" was also captivating, but I think this one was better. Highly recommend!

not as exciting as her other books

really more of a Hallmark or Lifetime network kind of story. no real conflict, crisis or antagonist. she's a good dialogue writer for sure. I'm still a fan, just, this isnt my fave

Great entertainment

I have recently discovered this author and this is the third book I've listened to in a row. They're not great "mysteries" (my favorite genre) and probably too unbelievable to satisfy someone who is looking for great literary fiction...and YET, the stories are "unputdownable." The author somehow makes you care for these implausible characters and the twists and turns of their lives. She can count me as one of her newest fans.

Life Is Complex

This is an interesting story of nature/nurture, personal legacy, and accountability. It took me a bit to get hooked and realize what was going on and who was who, but once the cast of characters was established, the threads began to converge. This is a relationship story. No big action or adventure, as predictable as braiding long, thick hair, but pleasing in it's conclusion just the same.

I really enjoyed this book.

I found this book pretty mellow and enjoyable. I actually had to slow down because I didn't want to finish the book too soon. I got to warm up to all of the characters and couldn't pick a favorite. It made me think of the years I spent in London :) I LOVE Helen Duff!!! It's hard to move on from her voice to anyone else's.

Slow start, good finish

A touching story of the complexities of our connections to our past, human emotion, and what it means to be family. Near the end of the book, I realized the slow start was necessary to explain all of the details of each character’s story. Another good book from Lisa Jewell and wonderful narration by Helen Duff.

Great prose, uninteresting story

It's always a joy to read Lisa Jewell, but... the story is kinda like a soap-opera.

Good- but not my favorite

I really enjoy this authors writing. It is creative and unique. However, I found this story a little boring in places. The characters are interesting, narration wonderful and the ending is nice. I just found I enjoyed Then She Was Gone a lotttt more. This story seemed to drag on a bit. Still, Im glad I stuck with it, the full-circle of the characters at the end is sweet.
