Publisher's Summary

Coexisting but conflicting needs create self-sabotaging behaviors. This is why we resist efforts to change, often until they feel completely futile. But by extracting crucial insight from our most damaging habits, building emotional intelligence by better understanding our brains and bodies, releasing past experiences at a cellular level, and learning to act as our highest potential future selves, we can step out of our own way and into our potential.

For centuries, the mountain has been used as a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resilience, and adjusting how we show up for the climb. In the end, it is not the mountain we master, but ourselves.

Perfect!!!!

I'm a 46 year old male and I had never felt reborn honestly!! Until I listened to this book. I now recommend this book to absolutely everyone I see. Thank you so much Brianna Wiest! You are changing lives for the better. Also Stacey Glemboski, Thank you so much for your easy listening. Between the two of you My life has been Nothing but better. This book should be the best book of all time in my opinion. Once again Thank you so much! If there were 10 Stars I'd be giving it!

fantastic but slightly off

fantastic messages with a great delivery but there were some parts that felt really dated and weird about traditional family roles, specifically towards household chores/cooking etc.

Definitely read this book if you're on the climb

While reading this book, keep in mind that not every single piece of advice or anecdote or metaphor will resonate with you personally... and then read it anyway. Take what fits, leave what doesn't, and be prepared to reread it later when circumstances have changed and you are in need of fresh perspective. Very healthy soul scrubbing, highly recommend.

You need to hear this!

I am not a reader, I'm not a fan of books, but when I hit rock bottom again, this was just what I needed. I implemented change from the moment I heard how to change and by the time I finished the book, I could sense change in me.

Very Helpful

I loved this book, so easy to listen to. It makes you think about how we complicate things unnecessarily and gives you courage to change making you aware that the change you need is possible. After I finish listening to it, I started it again, just to captivate the information I must of missed. It is possible to make changes in life and this book gives you the believe you can. Highly recommended for anyone in doubt.

Fantastic

A deep dive into the self and how you tick, I laughed, and I cried.
Helps you identify your weak points or triggers and gives you ideas to change it.

This book changed a lot of my outlook, I will be listening to it again.

With every book, there's a bit of nonsense, I think you just need to take what resonates with you and leave the rest.

Underwelming

I wanted this to live up to the hype, but it did not.

Perhaps this would be helpful for someone new to “self development”, but for me it read like a lot of stating the obvious. Most of the points made in this book are paraphrased themes of best selling self help books, and at worst a bunch of Pinterest quotes pushed together.

The tone is dogmatic “you must do this” or “you cannot do that” with very little science or data to back up claims. Disappointing and overhyped, and I did not enjoy the narrator’s cheesy and sing songy performance.

Fell Short

I quickly picked this book up after seeing almost everyone talking about it with high praises. It ended up being unexpectedly repetitive, and at many times felt more like a positive affirmations track than an actual book. The messages were nice, but offered much less science-backed examples than other similar books, and most of the 'tactics' given were very metaphorical; you'll 'know it's working' because you can 'feel your inner child' and stuff like that. When it comes to exercises, it's not much help to the emotionally congested to just tell us you're certain we'll see certain deep mental montages and just 'feel' when it's correct. Probably a good starter book, but didn't have enough substance for me.

A must for anyone going through life transformation

I've been hyper-focusing on my growth over the last 3 years (since D-Day/Diagnosed at 40 ADHD) and this book is something I wish I listened to 3 years ago. There are so many great points the author brings up, which take a topic and shifts your angle of perspective of it. I found a lot of quotes from the book on google and they are so good. I recommend this book for someone who wants to get to the root of issues in their life, but you've gotta be open and capable of creating new awareness. If you are, this book can help you make sense of things you weren't able to identify or maybe understand before.

There are also a couple of topics covered and discussed that hit real close to home with my ADHD. This book can help you come up with areas to focus on (no pun intended) using CBT.

Uncovering Our Mountains

Brianna Wiest does a phenomenal job with helping her readers see the deeper rooted things in our lives that we need to focus on to achieve the healing we are all searching for in life. We often think we know the true problems in our lives that we need to fix so that we can have a better life but after reading this book I realized that most of us are just treating the symptoms and not the actual core problem. If you’ve been dealing with self sabotage in your life I highly recommend this book. It helped me uncover things I’ve been working years to uncover by simply getting me to realize the symptoms are the area we need to be focusing on.

Good insight tools

This is a deep clean necessary for removing adverse behavioral patterns. Positive self talk cleans the surface. Being present in life requires excavation of the origin of adverse patterns. This book is good for doing that work.

Exactly what I needed!

When you go through life, the ups and downs, can exhaust your outlook to the future- needless to say I am glad I found this book.
The narrator is really soothing. The information, though tough to hear at times, really brought forward a lot of hardships I have had and how to navigate effectively through them.
absolutely appreciated this read!

Inutile

Du temps perdu. Répétition des choses évidentes. Pour quelqu’un qui s’intéresse au développement personnel, ce livre est assez superficiel.
