Story
Mitza Maric has always been a little different from other girls. Most 20-year-olds are wives by now, not studying physics at an elite Zurich university with only male students trying to outdo her clever calculations. But Mitza is smart enough to know that, for her, math is an easier path than marriage. And then fellow student Albert Einstein takes an interest in her, and the world turns sideways. Theirs becomes a partnership of the mind and of the heart, but there might not be room for more than one genius in a marriage.

A Great Story and Listen

Publisher's Summary
She possessed a stunning beauty. She also possessed a stunning mind. Could the world handle both?
Her beauty almost certainly saved her from the rising Nazi party and led to marriage with an Austrian arms dealer. Underestimated in everything else, she overheard the Third Reich's plans while at her husband's side, understanding more than anyone would guess. She devised a plan to flee in disguise from their castle, and the whirlwind escape landed her in Hollywood. She became Hedy Lamarr, screen star.
But she kept a secret more shocking than her heritage or her marriage: She was a scientist. And she knew a few secrets about the enemy. She had an idea that might help the country fight the Nazis...if anyone would listen to her.
A powerful novel based on the incredible true story of the glamour icon and scientist whose groundbreaking invention revolutionized modern communication, The Only Woman in the Room is a masterpiece.

What an amazing person Hedy was!
I am so glad I listened to this book to learn about the amazing life of Hedy Lamarr. brilliant, courageous and talented. I now wish that her contributions to the world were better known, and I appreciate this author trying to make this happen. If only Hedy could have received this recognition and accolades decades ago - so sad that her history has been forgotten beyond a beautiful actress. This book is well written, well narrated, and it makes me want to know more. Thank you!

Interesting Historical Fiction
I was lookong forward to reading/listening to this book, and despite a few moments during the description of her first marriage when I wondered how a woman as smart as Hedy would allow her husband to treat her the way he did. But I really enjoyed the rest of the book and the surprise of her contributions to science. Well- written- Marie B. is an excellent writer who lets the story unfold accurately and tastefully. A good read, very informative.
