About this listen

Far out on the Eastern Fringe, the realm of Ultramar stands alone. Having weathered the Word Bearers' attack on Calth and the subsequent Shadow Crusade against the Five Hundred Worlds, the Ultramarines primarch Roboute Guilliman now draws all loyalist forces to Macragge as he contemplates a new future for mankind.

With the arrival of more and more fugitives from the war that has engulfed the rest of the galaxy, all distinction between friend and foe is lost - isolated from Terra by fearsome warp storms, is Guilliman making a bid for power to rival even the renegade Warmaster Horus?

Wonderfully performed and a great story involving several of my favourite primarchs. Well worth the time and money.

Great story!

slow start, but it builds the begging of the real story after all the stage setting so far in the series, this book is amazing I laughed, gasped was suprused and stunned with revelations from books back... large cast good action and big names.. loved it

amazing on every level

In my top 3 Horus heresy books. Another incredible adventure from Dan Abnett. We’ll worth the credit.

An overall enjoyable experience, though disjointed at times, and with curious pacing quirks, particularly in the Grammaticus subplot. Occasionally relies on repeated tricks that it trusts you've already forgotten. Narration can come off as strange at times, but overall is very well done. Not an unpleasant read by any estimation though, definitely earns all 4 stars.

Good, but not satisfying.

Unlike other stories within the Horus Heresy, this one takes place over the course of days, largely in the same area. A comforting change of pace for a great story.

Centred in Time and Space
