About this listen
You can't see them. But they can see you.
This forest isn't charted on any map. Every car breaks down at its treeline. Mina's is no different. Left stranded, she is forced into the dark woodland only to find a woman shouting, urging Mina to run to a concrete bunker. As the door slams behind her, the building is besieged by screams.
Mina finds herself in a room with a wall of glass, and an electric light that activates at nightfall, when the watchers come above ground. These creatures emerge to observe their captive humans and terrible things happen to anyone who doesn't reach the bunker in time. Afraid and trapped among strangers, Mina is desperate for answers. Who are the watchers and why are these creatures keeping them imprisoned, keen to watch their every move?

Story
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

Not nearly as good as I’d hoped
Surprisingly dry book. Patchy information. The narrator’s performance saved it. Took me far longer to get through than I expected as it was often too boring to continue.

An original horror mystery that's worth your time.
The core mystery regarding the identity of the antagonists was a good hook that only grows as the story develops. The characters were all interesting and had parts to play as well as evolving over the course of the novel.
The narrator also did a good job in changing her cadence and voice to match different characters.

A compelling and unique story
This was easy to listen to as the story was well crafted, unique and smoothly narrated . There are elements of horror and suspense, and characters to identify with. I also loved the addition of the "yellow one" (you will have to read it to understand). 💛

Spine tinglingly creepy
Definitely makes you want to look over your shoulders because you can’t shake the feeling that someone is Watching You, no matter where you are.
Suspenseful and terrifying at the same time.
A definite listen for fans of thrillers and suspense. A little touch of creepiness to top it off.

Great story & excellent narration!
I went into this story knowing very little about it and was very impressed. It has a steady pace and relatable characters with plenty of twists. The narrator was exceptional. I highly recommend!
