Publisher's Summary

Victoria Barnett has it all: a great career as a nurse practitioner, a handsome and loving husband, a beautiful home in the suburbs, and a plan to fill it with children. Life is perfect—or so it seems. Then she’s in a terrible accident...and everything falls apart. Now Victoria is unable to walk. She can’t feed or dress herself. She can’t even speak. She is confined to the top floor of her house with 24-hour care.

Sylvia Robinson is hired by Victoria’s husband to help care for her. But it turns out Victoria isn’t as impaired as Sylvia was led to believe. There’s a story Victoria desperately wants to tell...if only she could get the words out. Then Sylvia discovers Victoria’s diary hidden away in a drawer. And what’s inside is shocking.

Had to turn it off

Ok so the narration was annoying but tolerable……..until Victoria’s journal. The voice for Victoria is unbearably annoying. Like if someone had that voice in real life you’d hate them. It’s wispy, there’s whistles on certain words , airy, and just plain annoying. I can’t comment on the story because I couldn’t listen to it . I’m sad I wasted a credit!

Well.written but not as good as her other novels

I did struggle to finish this. Found the tension and pacing not that good. I unfortunately didn't like the narration. Too soothing and odd for a thriller/mystery. It's a shame because good narration can elevate ok mysteries. I do regret spending my one credit on this. its unfortunate because her other books are excellent.

It’s ok

Unpopular opinion, but I liked the narration. It’s the story that was overdone and flat.

OMG THE NARRATOR IS ANNOYING AF

I’m only on the first chapter and I’m regretting this. The narrator is so annoying. Oh well , wasted money. I think he needs a class or two.

Disappointing

I am a big Frieda McFadden fan but this one really dragged on & on and the narration was simpering. I hope my next pick is better.

A harlequin romance copy

If you like harlequin romances and stories with very predictable storylines you’ll like this book. The best part is the narration.

I couldn’t stand how dumb the main character was. Cringey. Couldn’t finish. I usually love McFadden.

Horrible characters. Terrible narrator. I’m very surprised at how badly this was written. Frieda is usually a great author

Painfully Silly Narration

The story is predictable yes, but fine enough. The way this narrator chose to read Vicki’s journal tortured me. The silly, honeyed, singsong voice was hard to bear. It spoiled an already low to mid, evil little story and made it eye rollingly inane.
