Story
Stryker Company always brings the fight, but when they relieve embittered and embattled Republic marines, they find an enemy unwilling to stand up and face them. Tasked with protecting the Republic's interests on a mining world, the legionnaires face roadside ambushes, double-dealing locals, and constant sabotage. And the mission isn’t as straightforward as they thought it would be. As skirmishes escalate into coordinated ambushes, two squad leaders, Talon and Lankin, are forced to chase after the sparks threatening to ignite the entire populace into a full-blown insurgency.

When they are invited to be guests of honor at a ceremony on a small, backwater planet, they look forward to some precious time away from the constant conflicts of galaxy's edge. But when a neighboring country invades, disrupting the ceremony and killing innocents, the Wolves are forced to make an impossible decision. Aid a people pleading for their protection...or obey the cynical orders of their senate to stand down and see how the dust settles.

The galaxy follows a logical structure. Legion Dark Operator Kel Turner believed that. To know the order of battle and how an enemy unit was organized was to know its purpose and how to destroy it. That logic existed down to the smallest scale, down to what made up life itself. To know a molecule’s structure was to know its function - they were one and the same. It was no different for Kel. He was Dark Ops and Dark Ops was him. But the covert action arm of the Legion is changing. And so is he. And if Dark Ops is no longer the same, how could Kel be Kel?

Luke Daniels made this story, what aught to be depressing in its denouement, thoroughly entertaining and believable by using the various voices and tonal attitudes.
This story so far felt the most illuminating in this sub-series.

Tied for best book in the Order of the Centurion
Richard Fox's writing and Luke Daniels' narration is an unbeatable combo. Just started getting into Fox's work after finishing the Order of the Centurion books so imagine my pleasant surprise when I check my email and see Fox wrote an OotC book. Thanks to his experience with his own sci-fi series (The Ember War) his work feels right at home in the Galaxy's Edge. I found myself quickly getting attached to characters and getting very invested in the story as it went along.
Luke Daniels' narration is always top tier, his range of voices is impressive and his reading only furthers my immersion.
This book easily ties for first place in the OotC series for me, the book it shares first place with being the very first one. I genuinely feel lucky that I got to experience this author crossover.

worth the listen
I think this one was worth the listen, it's not as good Stryker's War but it's a lot better than Iron Wolves. I think the next one they need to do needs to focus on the legionnaires kill team. This one is also perfect because it shows why the people are fighting against the house of reason and those Points. Death to the Republic and all the Points!

Nothing is what it seems...
The Nether Ops... man... who ARE these people? I felt like I needed to watch my back while listening! Jeez...
Having read all other books in GE universe, I'm endlessly fascinated by the details and back stories of some of the characters and organizations. This installment is an illuminating addition to the series. I'm now tempted to go back and listen again to the beginnings as there were a couple of characters brought up that I always wondered about, as to what was their fate. I guess now we know. Can't wait for next season!!!
Narrator - I must admit that he is one of my favorites and he was perfect for this book. I have other favorite narrators that wouldn't be the right choice. The voice, the style, the timing are all essential to an audible book. He nailed it.

Fantastic Galaxy’s Edge story from a spy’s POV
I enjoy book series like Galaxy’s Edge, Song of Ice and Fire, Lord of the Rings, Ruins of the Galaxy, Star Wars, The Dark Tower, etc.
This is another great story in the Galaxy’s Edge universe. Great as a stand-alone or if you have already read all the others.
It’s the Galaxy’s Edge universe that we love but with a fantastic spy angle to the whole thing.
Well written characters. Some nice humor mixed in. Compelling story that really sucks you in and makes you keep wondering “what will happen next?”

Spectacular Tie-in To the Galaxy's Edge Series!
What do you get when the authors from two of the most successful military sci-fi sagas come together? You get one of the best installments of the Galaxy's Edge series, of course! Talk about a pulse stomping ride! Intelligent, edgy, full of intrigue and with more than a few heart-tugging moments/situations. I especially loved the call backs to some of the side characters from the main series' Book 3: Kill Team. Luke Daniels nails it with the narration. I really hope Richard, Jason and Nick are able to do more with this Nether Ops thread.

Fantastic!
A lot of times side stories like this, written by someone besides the main authors, feel either too disconnected from the world we know or too slavishly bound to what we know. Through the Nether walks a tight line between the two, giving us a glimpse at new facets of the Republic while not divorcing us from the story we’ve come to love.

Not worth the read
I skipped book 2, because the reviews were so bad, and all the books in this series are stand-alone. There is no overlap in characters. Of the 4 books that I did read in this series, this was the weakest. The plot didn't have much substance, and there were several plot holes. I wouldn't bother with this book. Luke Daniels is very good, though.
