Publisher's Summary

I was the girl no one looked at twice. Until they saw me.

My whole life, no one has had my back. My parents are dead, my adoptive mother is a drug addict, and the mean girls on campus mock me for my scars.

So when I end up desperate for money and out of options, I agree to sell the one thing I have left: my innocence.

On the night I’m meant to give my body to a brutal Russian mobster, three men storm into the room like dark shadows and kill him before he can claim me. When they drag me from the blood-soaked bed, I’m certain they’re going to kill me too.

They don’t… but they don’t forget about me, either.

These three dangerous brothers will do anything to make sure I keep my mouth shut about what I saw, even if it means stalking my every movement. I’m a loose thread to them—but somehow, I’m becoming more than that too.

I’m becoming an obsession.
A temptation.
A craving.

And no matter how much I try to deny the terrifying attraction that pulses between us, I know if I don’t find a way out of this tangled web soon…

Their darkness will swallow me up.

Twisted Game is a full-length new adult romance with dark themes, damaged anti-heroes, and high heat. It is book one of four in the series.

Male Narrator is Odd

The books are a MUCH better read than the audio. The female narrator is pretty good and she does well. The male on the other hand, he stumbles over words often, struggles with pronunciations, pauses in weird places etc.

Books require a mature content warning

I always read the summary of Eva Ashwood's books and they sound amazing so I purchase them, forgetting that I put them in my list as a pass, simply because her books are 90% sexual encounters and 10% story. Don't get me wrong, smut is great and Ashwood's scenes are 5-alarm, but after the 50th scene, I'd rather some more story content. I also can't understand why hearing the female lead beg and plead for sex like a whiney child features so significantly in these types of books. Do men like that?

Having said that, the story here gets pretty compelling at the end of Book 3. I've been forwarding through most of the sex scenes to get to the rest of the story and I can't wait to see what happens.

The narration by Cassandra Medcalf is generally good - she makes the voices easy to differentiate, has a good pace and tone, and I generally enjoy it. I'm sure Daniel James Lewis is a great narrator but his voice makes me feel ill - all the nose breathing, etc., doesn't help. I suffer through his chapters but hers are okay.

Darkly Addictive and Intriguingly Twisted

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

As a newcomer to Eva Ashwood's writing and diving into the first installment of the Filthy Wicked Psychos series with "Twisted Game," I found myself enthralled and captivated by the dark and twisted world she created.

I stumbled upon this book through an online group on Facebook, and while it started a bit slow with some repetitive elements, the sheer intensity of the storyline quickly compensated for it. From the very beginning, I was plunged into a tumultuous journey that left my head spinning in the most exhilarating way possible.

The protagonist's struggles and vulnerabilities were palpable, drawing me into her world of desperation and survival. The introduction of the three enigmatic brothers brought a new layer of complexity and danger, weaving a web of suspense and intrigue that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book.

What truly sets "Twisted Game" apart is its ability to balance dark themes with intense passion. The chemistry between the characters sizzles off the pages, and Ashwood expertly navigates the boundaries of desire and danger, creating a tension that is both thrilling and addictive.

The cliffhanger ending left me clamoring for more, eager to delve into the next book and unravel the mysteries and passions that continue to unfold. "Twisted Game" is a darkly addictive read that fans of damaged anti-heroes and high-heat romances will devour eagerly.

In conclusion, despite a few initial pacing issues, the gripping plot, well-developed characters, and scorching heat level make "Twisted Game" a must-read for those who love their romance with a side of darkness and obsession. I eagerly anticipate the next installment in this captivating series.

Cliff hanger at end, Male narrative switches between 3 characters (I missed this at first)
