Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Nicholas Sparks returns with an emotionally powerful story of unconditional love, its challenges, its risks, and, most of all, its rewards.

At 32 Russell Green has it all: a stunning wife, a lovable six-year-old daughter, a successful career as an advertising executive, and an expansive home in Charlotte. He is living the dream, and his marriage to the bewitching Vivian is the center of that.

But underneath the shiny surface of this perfect existence, fault lines are beginning to appear, and no one is more surprised than Russ when he finds every aspect of the life he took for granted turned upside down. In a matter of months, Russ finds himself without a job or wife, caring for his young daughter while struggling to adapt to a new and baffling reality. Throwing himself into the wilderness of single parenting, Russ embarks on a journey at once terrifying and rewarding - one that will test his abilities and his emotional resources beyond anything he ever imagined.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

A great novel that was beautifully read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The music was an added surprise that made it even more captivating.

Just ugly crying over here

I hated the music peppered throughout the audio book.

That being said, typical Nicholas Sparks book, romance, turmoil, ugly crying, happy ending, all things I like in a book. I found myself bored in parts, and then needing more in others. Premise was good, but not as developed as I’ve seen him do before, so I wasn’t as invested as a reader.

Just Okay

I enjoyed this book when I listened. However when I wasnt actively listening I found I didnt have any specific need to listen. That being said, I am not sure I have ever finished a book by this author. I also tend to prefer to read myself. my husband recommended audiobooks as a way to "read" a book while working around the house with our two small children.
I gave this book a 3 because the story did not entice me and it was predictable. I did however find myself crying as I was walking through WalMart.

I Am Stunned At The Good Reviews!

This book, was in a word- the worst Nicholas Sparks book I've ever read. It was almost as if someone else wrote the book entirely. Gone was the usual loving characters and the wonderful romance. There was no horrible factor keeping a perfectly 'in love' couple apart. There was no excitement, no 'can't wait to see what happens next.'

This is a long, boring story about a couple who are married and have a little girl together. As the wife starts to gain some independence, Dad is left taking care of their daughter. Nothing really happens except tedious, boring things in the day to day life of the couple. This story drags on for 14 hours of eye-rolling numbness and boredom, and although I listened- I really hated this book.

I think Nicholas Sparks is a fairly good writer. He's my guilty pleasure. I always get wrapped up in his stories, normally with a box of kleenex so I can cry through his impossible death scenes or terrible tragedies that befall his sweet, loving characters. I couldn't have cared less for any one character in 'Two By Two' and I absolutely detested this book. Hope Nicholas pulls it together for his next book- because this one was just horrific.

Urgh.

Mundane account of life

Marriage, children, divorce, death. The author has selected topics that could have spoken to many readers, but the book is cliche in places and falls flat in others. The foreshadowing, if that was intended, made the plot obvious. I kept listening assuming an unexpected twist was going to happen, but it didn't.
Unfortunately, the narrator made all the women sound whiny.

Music not necessary

Music distracted me from the story.
Not a fan. The music was kind of cheesy. Also, Russ was a little hard to take as a believable character. My husband is "too nice of a guy", but even he breaks every now and then. I wish Russ would have broken at least once so it could have been more believable. Especially with all of the stuff he was dealing with all at once. Isn't realistic...Relationships with daughter, parents and sister were touching.

Wimpy Main Character

This book is really frustrating because the main character, the husband, has no backbone. Despite the outrageous behavior of his wife (over and over again), he remains clueless and lets everything slide. He is so seriously whipped that I was not able to enjoy the book.

Gah! Boring. Dull. Cliche.

I used to be an avid Nicholas Sparks fan, buying every book of his as soon as it was published. But they've been declining in quality, and I'm disappointed to say that I couldn't finish this one - and I likely won't be buying any more. It's a cliche, unimaginative story of modern American society: mousy testosterone-deprived doormat of a husband who gets cheated on by his wife when he quits his executive job, and mopes around the house feeling sorry for himself. The Mrs. is a powerful career driven mother who lands a high profile job and has an affair with her boss - dull and unlikeable from the start. Of course there's the token lesbian sister with ample digs on the Christian/Catholic church and their views on homosexuality, and a lot of mundane dialog that goes nowhere. Even the little girl is about as boring as a bowl of Kraft mac and cheese. There's an ex-girlfriend in the picture, but I honestly didn't really care to see where that storyline was going. Can you believe that with 7 hours left, I gave up and deleted it? I gave it two stars because the narrator was decent. Save your credit.

Another Nicholas Sparks winner

While it was slow to get going the middle and end are well worth it.

Beautiful

Amazing performance! Bravo Ari Fliakos. Difficult to stop listening. Seeing love , lessons, heartbreak. The perspective of the way things could be dealt with.

Perfect narrator

This is a touching story with a few predictable turns but overall, a great listen. Spoiler alert: not all books have the expected happy ending but don't stop listening! Enjoy!
