A Rogue Traders Novel

As the Indomitus Crusade begins, Roboute Guilliman tasks the Davamir Compact to find a route across the Great Rift.

Listen to it because

Witness the deadly politics and incredible wealth of the Imperium's privateers, as three powerful rogue trader dynasties put their considerable assets to work for the greatest crusade in millennia.

The story

Proud Lamertine. Fierce Helvintr. Cunning Radrexxus.

Since the halcyon days of the Great Crusade, these noble rogue trader dynasties have plied the void in the Emperor’s name, answering to whomsoever sits as the king of the Davamir Compact. There has been profit and adventure and abundance in these times… Yet now the galaxy is changed, divided by the birth of the Great Rift. As plans are drawn up for the most immense crusade imaginable, the Emperor’s reborn son demands that the Compact seek a way across the Rift.

When tragedy and betrayal threaten all their endeavours, it is the Lamertine heir, Erastus, who must rise to the fore—to guide the disparate forces of the Compact in service to their sacred mission, to avenge the wounds done to them by hidden hands, and to reveal the darkest secrets threatening the Imperium’s dreams of unity…

Interesting story if a bit cliche

The voice of the narrator was not the best, but it was adequate.
The story itself was interesting and the intrigues decent, but it's not the best story out there.
Good enough.

Main Character is a Bit Flat

I'd like the main character to have seemed a bit less inept and the bondsman to have had more depth.

It's a good action novel with some rousing speeches, but I want something a bit sharper.

Finally a Void story

I love Warhammer 40k. Rich in lore and action but I found the stories lacking a pure void ship setting. Good story and with a smooth narrator.

Boring story and terrible performance

I'm a massive fan of Rogue Traders, been playing RT games and reading the lore for over 15 years and this book almost had a good hook at the start. The idea of RTs having courts was cool, but holy god does this story go no where slowly, I hate that BL writers always default to bolter porn or murder mystery in their stories and it has no place in a RT novel. RT novels should be wolf wall meets pirates of the Caribbean. I tried my best to finish this novel but somehow the narration actually makes this worse. It's less boring as a novel then a audiobook. The narrator maintains a monotone voice for the entire novel, never changing pitch or voices at all. A small child and a burly man sound the exact same. Bad novel and terrible voice acting.

Leutin let me down :(

Narrator's raspy voice when not voicing characters was EXTREMELY off putting in the begining, but I guess I got used to it...

The boy King had mediocre character development and his growth in martial prowess was cliche like a c tier anime protagonist and didn't make much sense

I did not buy into the "glory" of the rogue traders tbh...

And... I don't know - I'm just disappointed and wanted to rant before I forget about this underwhelming book.
