À propos de cet audio

A Sabbat Worlds novel.

The war on Enothis is almost lost. Chaos forces harry the defenders on land and in the skies. Can the ace pilots of the Phantine XX turn the tide and bring the Imperium victory?

Listen to it because:

It takes the famous Sabbat Worlds Crusade to the skies, with fast-paced aeronautical action, memorable characters and compelling emotional arcs from Dan 'Master of War' Abnett.

The story:

High-speed air combat in the war-torn Sabbat Worlds!

When the elite fighter pilots of the Phantine XX arrive on the beleaguered world of Enothis, they know it is a desperate hour. The forces of Chaos are closing in, and their final push could well wipe out all human life on the planet. Thousands of refugees flee the dark armies, and the infamous Chaos fighter pilot Khrel Kas Obarkon is always hunting the skies for more prey....

And so it falls to the brave men and women of the Phantine fighter corps. Can they hold off the Chaos advance until reinforcements arrive? In the high-speed, white-knuckle terror of aerial combat, can they defeat an enemy possessed by daemons?

Fantastic Story with well fleshed out characters that really shows how the Imperial Airforce fights both as individuals at the unit level and on a strategic level.

Battle of Britain 40k Style

Dan Abnett makes you feel like you are inside the cockpit of a Thunderbolt fighter, and manages to keep the audience engaged when on the ground too. The story is bland and predictable, taking queues from WW2 history, but the cast of characters, their victories, their sorrow, their every action has you rooting or feeling for these characters right up till the final squeeze of the trigger.

Dunkirk but in space.

Layout of the book jumps around. It can be challenging to keep track of everything

Can be Hard to follow at times

But… I found it difficult to follow as it jumps around a fair amount between different story arcs… bringing them together at the end… though a very abrupt ending.

Well written story…

while the story itself is captivating and unfolds decently , I think I somehow missed books that came before that one .... I had a hard time understanding the context of alliances and geography referred to in this one.
also , the dog fights etc. were described interestingly... some things just didn't make sense though - it often referred to "negativ G's" and grey outs, which would only occur with positive G (otherwise it'd be red outs - i.e.too much blood in the cranium) and definitely not at 3g for trained pilots as it mentioned once .... so, I am not sure how to feel about the book ....nice entertainment but a bit out there by itself ?!?

mixed goods

I got this book on sale to further immerse myself in into the world of 40k when I build/paint/game with my aeronautica models. For that purpose the story was ok.

Follows a squad of imperial guard pilots fighting the forces of chaos on a wartorn planet. I found the story and characters unmemorable for the most part, the characters lacked meaningful development and the antagonizing forces were more or less faceless, besides a couple short pov segments with the Chaos ace pilot.

I can reccomend this book to 40k fans or people like me that picked up aeronautica and want to immerse themselves into the cockpit.

Can reccomend for 40k fans.
