Publisher's Summary

The future isn’t what they expected.

A company of Army Rangers is sent on an interstellar colony ship to secure a foothold on a dangerous, alien planet through violence of action. Leaving behind a warring Earth flung headfirst into a conflict of mutual assured destruction, the Rangers and the accompanying crew of first colonists are guided on a 40-year journey by an unprecedented artificial intelligence.

But when they emerge from the frigid embrace of cryosleep, they awake to a nightmare, finding themselves greeted by the same ruthless enemy that brought about the ruin of Earth. Alone on a dangerous, alien planet and with no hope of rescue or relief, the military colonists are forced to finish the war they thought they’d left behind. And in an unknown galaxy, friends and enemies alike prove to be much more than they seem.

Wayward Galaxy is an explosive military science-fiction adventure featuring defective AIs, valorous soldiers, a brilliant scientist, and gritty combat written by Jason Anspach (Associated Press best seller and cocreator of Galaxy’s Edge) and J.N. Chaney (USA Today best seller and author of the Renegade series).

strong start!!

really enjoyed the action, the world and the comedy - got me to lol a few times. (Fans of Skippy or hitchhikers Marvin will find a friend in this story) Sure - there isn’t much that is epic as the K.T.F of Galaxy’s Edge but this here book gives it a run for its money high reccos for sci military and space opera fans

A real treat to listen to

I listen to a lot by these authors and this narrator. I came across this by accident and was like ... yeah, I will stop another book 1/2 way through to listen to this one. Really good world building! Excellent character building and as always, love Bray.

Badass Legacy continues

R.C Bray as usual another 10/10 performance.. The man's velvety tones simple nail it. The Jason Anspach and J.N Chaney crushed another one, I'll be waiting for the next book(s) so chop chop gentlemen, less time beer drinking more typing. And Don't even pull those Game of thrones shenanigans! Also let's get Galaxy's edge season 2 going already! wayward galaxy is good story to makes you ask a lot of questions. the 80s action film references were suit if you grew up with that back in Day... which also makes me feel old... thanks for that by the way.

Great Start!

I saw a lot of inspirations similar to Mass Effect Andromeda, where humanity is sending people from Earth to Andromeda because they were about to loose the war against the reapers. And Alexa looks a lot like EDI from Mass Effect 2, and specially from Mass Effect 3 with the android appearance. I'm not complaining, quite the contrary. It was well written and the pacing is well done. And with RC Bray doing the narration, the listening was enjoyable and went on smoothly. I need a second book. Or more.

A breath of fresh air

An exciting forray into a distant future with interesting characters and some really fun AIs. This was exactly the type of book I was looking for. Chaney and Anspach are great together, their voices made even more incredible by RC Bray's. I hope there are sequels to this, because this is a universe I want to explore even more.

Insanely good

I just want to say that I really liked this. The characters, the world, the story. It's everything I look for in military scifi. The narration was stellar, too. Gonna keep my eye on these guys in the future.

How long before the next book?

I love the story and R. C. Bray's narration is spot on! The premise has a few unexpected twists and turns for space opera, which I liked. The narration had a lot of variety which really helps to keep the many characters separated. Over all, I repeat, how long before the next book?

More than I wanted

Not what I expected, but I am looking forward to the next installment .Wonderfully written and Narrated, RC Bray does his usual fine work and we as listeners are lucky to have him. Jason Anspach and JN Chaney have put together a unique world where life is gritty yet has possibility for growth. Keep up the good work, all of you!

Loved it

add Brody to the list of best all time characters with Skippy. I loved the book and narration. I'm a big Galaxies Edge fan too. Wayward Galaxy was right there for entertainment value and I wish the next 3 or 4 were already out. I demand more from all three series.

Meh

Wildly predictable, surprisingly underwhelming. Not much else to say here, but this review requires 15 words minimum, So I added this extra sentence.

Another hit!!!

Yet another in a long string of hits for Chaney. I've been a fan of his since the Amber Project and then Renegade Star. He's continued to evolve and produce higher and higher quality stuff. This is no different. The story is engaging and the narration is absolutely nuts. I've only heard RC Bray in Ruins of the Galaxy before and I loved what he did there. This is equally good. Extremely good, in fact! I hope they do more of these in the future!

A Lazy, Phoned-In Waste of Bray

Exceptional Americans travel across the galaxy to a planet straight from a Star Trek backlot, only to have to contend with those dastardly Chinese/Russian communists who have nothing better to do and nowhere better to go in the galaxy than to chase down fine Americans. At first, you might regret that there’s nearly zero "scifi" here, but then you get glimpses of the authors’ nonexistent grasp of science and are very glad there’s not more of it, just lots of lazily-written, jingoistic "action" assembled from tropes even Hollywood has discarded in embarrassment. The many plot holes actually provide welcome breaks from the onslaught of stupid.
