If there’s one trait that makes someone well-suited to comedy, it’s being able to take a punch - metaphorically and, occasionally, physically. Told with a healthy dose of self-deprecation, A Very Punchable Face reveals the brilliant mind behind some of the dumbest sketches on television, and lays bare the heart and humor of a hardworking guy - with a face you can’t help but want to punch.

Since his first performance at the legendary New York nightclub “Catch a Rising Star” as a 21-year-old college student in fall of 1975, Jerry Seinfeld has written his own material and saved everything. “Whenever I came up with a funny bit, whether it happened on a stage, in a conversation, or working it out on my preferred canvas, the big yellow legal pad, I kept it in one of those old school accordion folders,” Seinfeld writes. “So I have everything I thought was worth saving from 45 years of hacking away at this for all I was worth.”

I’ve been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. Charting a “Homeric” decades-long “odyssey” from his origins in the seedy comedy clubs of Chicago to a dramatic career full of award nominations - with a side trip into the action-man world that is baffling to all who know him - it’s almost like there are many Bob Odenkirks! Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father, a struggling actor and director, cast him in a United Way commercial. Soon Bryan was haunting the local movie theater, memorizing and reenacting favorite scenes with his older brother. Acting was clearly the boy's destiny - until one day his father disappeared. Suddenly destiny took a backseat to survival. Seeking something more stable, perhaps subconsciously trying to distance himself from his absent father, Cranston decided on a career in law enforcement.

A collection of outrageous stories by the stand-up comic, TV host, and inspiration for the movie National Lampoon's Van Wilder. Bert Kreischer doesn't know how to say "no". If he did, he wouldn't have gotten himself mixed up with a group of Russian mobsters on a class trip to Moscow, earning him his nickname "The Machine". He wouldn't have wrestled with a bear or swum with sharks on national television. He wouldn't have (possibly) smoked PCP with a star of Saturday Night Live.

Publisher's Summary
A collection of funny personal essays from one of the writers of Superbad and Pineapple Express and one of the producers of The Disaster Artist, Neighbors, and The Boys. (All of these words have been added to help this book show up in people’s searches using the wonders of algorithmic technology. Thanks for bearing with us!) The audiobook cast features more than 80 voices, including cameos by Rogen’s mom and dad, Nick Kroll, Jay Pharoah, Jason Segel, Dan Aykroyd, Ike Barinholtz, Simon Helberg, Tommy Chong, and Billy Idol.
Hi! I’m Seth! I was asked to describe my audiobook, Yearbook for websites and shit like that, so...here it goes!!!
Yearbook is a collection of true stories that I desperately hope are just funny at worst, and life-changingly amazing at best. (I understand that it’s likely the former, which is a fancy “book” way of saying “the first one.”)
I talk about my grandparents, doing stand-up comedy as a teenager, bar mitzvahs, and Jewish summer camp, and tell way more stories about doing drugs than my mother would like. I also talk about some of my adventures in Los Angeles, and surely say things about other famous people that will create a wildly awkward conversation for me at a party one day.
I hope you enjoy the audiobook should you buy it, and if you don’t enjoy it, I’m sorry. If you ever see me on the street and explain the situation, I’ll do my best to make it up to you.
What the critics say
"It’s a real treat when a memoir by a comedian is actually as funny and vital as the work that got them into memoir-writing territory, but Yearbook is just that delightful.... Amusing and insightful.” (Vulture)
“In need of oddball anecdotes and lots of F bombs? Seth Rogen has you covered.... Yearbook features a hilarious collection of real-life stories and personal essays that delve into his adolescence and career.” (USA Today)
“The actor and writer will have you keeled over in laughter with his memoir, made up of a collection of essays that will make you think about the world differently.... Fasten your seatbelts for this page-turner, folks.” (Men’s Journal)
“At first I was worried that Seth was writing a book, because I was like, ‘Oh no! What’s he gonna say’? I was actually scared to even read it. But I’m very happy I did. It’s not really a memoir, like I thought it might be. I guess it’s more of a bunch of funny true stories? Does that make sense? He talks about doing stand-up when he was a kid (I drove him to all his shows!), his grandparents, high school, moving to LA, meeting some famous people, things like that. If I’m being honest, I really wish there wasn’t so much drug talk. Why does he need all that! It’s like, ‘We get it’! And some of the stories? I mean, they’re entertaining, but I was just shocked they happened and he never told me! Overall, I think it’s more sweet and funny than anything, so I like it, and I’m glad he wrote it, but I’d be even more glad if he called me more.” (Sandy Rogen, Seth’s mother)

Laughter, insight, and drugs
I just finished listening to "Year Book" and it was such a great time! Growing up as a functioning stoner in Toronto in the 90's, I was taken back with the similarities I shared with Seth in our teenage years. I can't help but think that we would have been friends if we were both on the west coast during theses times but sadly that was not the case. Regardless, this is a fun and engaging book and very easy to put on, light a joint, and laugh out loud to. Do yourself a favour and give this a listen, you won't regret it! Unless you do, in which case, lighten up.

LOTS of weed & drug talk, but hey-it's Seth Rogen
What else would someone expect?
Stoners are normally my least favorite person. It's just not my thing. Seth is just so charming and likable here that that it's easy to overlook it. The stories are genuine and he seems as amused by the things that happened to him as we are.
The most unique part is that he casts a lot of the people in his stories to voice themselves (his mom, Billy Idol, etc.) and then gets impressionists like Jay Pharoah to voice those he couldn't get. It's the best use of guests on an audiobook since the Beastie Boys' parade of guest stars on theirs.
It was an easy listen in the car and I finished it over the weekend. You don't have to be a total superfan of all his work to enjoy this collection of stories from his life.

Laugh out loud funny with heart.
Funny stories told with heart- what we’ve come to expect from Seth over the years and he delivers. I laughed out loud by myself more than a few times. When Snoop calls on his cohort of ‘hoes’ to come in and dance while he writes a rap verse I nearly pissed myself. Despite being famous his whole adult life Seth retains an every man perspective and is able to see the absurdity when famous people act like caricatures of themselves.

mostly "ok" stories from a B list celebrity
most of the book was entertaining. my biggest complaints are the relentless make dropping, and the fact he spent an entire chapter complaining about the censorship surrounding his movie, then went on a rant about how people he disagree with should be banned from Twitter.

I put on headphones, sat down in my backyard, and listened to it in one sitting. I’m incredibly and painfully sunburned, but the audiobook was wonderful—like catching up with that one hilarious friend from high school who you always really enjoyed but haven’t seen in years. Except when you remember that they actually went on to do the things they always said they were going to do. And now they’re wildly successful and happy. And you hate them for it.

I listened to this because someone said it was worth a listen. Did it enrich my life? Not at all. Were some parts funny? Few were. Would I recommend to others? Probably not. He talks about how he's high all the time and his language is something else. I don't get offended easily, but wow! I didn't even finish it. It wasn't worth my time in my opinion. It's just so-so.

Seth as awesome as always!
Great stories - they take me back to my childhood, teens, and early 20’s and the fun of zero responsibility. I laughed out loud the entire time — not something I’m known for when listening to audiobooks. I’m hope this is only volume 1 because I would download the next one immediately. Excellent storyteller- very relatable and nostalgic. 100% worth the credit. Loved it!!

Very disappointing
I’m a big fan of Seth Rogen as an actor. As an author I was disappointed. I was expecting the book to be funny. It had a couple moments but not many. I get a Seth Rogen book and expect comedy, not his political views.
