Mechanics on a Mission, providing free car repair services and free vehicles

  • Summary

  • Host Jeremy C. Park talks with Brian Sweatt, Executive Director of Mechanics on a Mission and Pastor with Our Church Ministries, who shares how the generosity of the community and Extreme Makeover in the aftermath of the devastating Nashville Flood of 2010 helped to inspire the beginning of Our Church Ministries and then later Mechanics on a Mission. Mechanics on a Mission is working to drive positive change and combat transportation insecurity in Middle Tennessee by providing free car repair services and free vehicles to single parents, widows, military veterans and others who face mobility challenges.

During the interview, Brian shares how they partner with area mechanics shops and car dealerships, including Christian Brothers Automotive, Nelson Mazda, Tire World, 1st Chance Tire and Auto, and Sanctuary Automotive, where experienced mechanics work tirelessly to ensure families can access safe and reliable transportation. He discusses how they partner with area charities, other nonprofits, ministries and churches to find those who face transportation insecurity and will be served. Brian wraps up with ways the community can support their efforts, through prayer, vehicle and cash donations, and how they've set their goal to give away 52 vehicles in 2024.
