  • 10. Introverts/Extroverts: Personalities at Work
    Jun 2 2023

Let's get downright introspective. Our personalities are large contributors to where we are in life. Just like the elephant in the office 'Takeover Tammy', your personality impacts how others perceive and interact with you. Office Elephant Attention Talkative Tasha's: please slow down and hush a bit. Attention Silent Steve's, would you please chime in? Professional Perspective In today's episode Allison talks about her journey to improve her personality (aka her Takeover Tammy tendencies) and be more conscientious about the different personalities of her peers. 'Co-Worker Conversation' Our co-worker conversation is not only with a friend, but the MLAW audio producer andddd a real life introvert, Jeremy Harriot. Ha! Jeremy and Allison chat up the dynamic of being introverted, leveraging the personality differences of teammates and managing personalities overall. MooreLaughing all the Way to the Bank - Personal Finance: Of course we are talking about how our personality impacts our financial decisions and how to use that for your good. Off the Record Today's letter is from a MooreLaughing co-worker cousin and she works with a "monster" who sneaks her dog to work but is also in a "close" relationship with the boss so it's hard to snitch... #OffTheRecord #MLOffTheRecord Our jobs and careers can impact our mental health and mindset. You are not alone, whether you'd like to share something funny going on at work or you'd like to get some outside perspective on your situation, we got you. Write us at moorelaughing@gmail.com, Allison is a real HR professional and your favorite co-worker, so she will give you some 'Off the Record' advice. • 9: UPSKILLING - Public Speaking
    May 19 2023
This week host: Comedian Allison Moore is talking about upskilling our public speaking skillset. For so many reasons, speaking confidently in front of an audience is a huge success hack. We know that a lot of our MooreLaughing family and co-worker cousins are NOT comfortable speaking in public. There's not enough conversation around the fact that you can become a confident speaker at any age. However, NOT by using the age old advice for public speaking which is:   "Imagine your audience naked..."  (Ummm. No. That's weird, lol and Allison talks about that in the show.) Anywho, Allison has hundreds of hours presenting earning several standing ovations after a talk and comedy routine. Also, in full transparency, she's performed talks where she's gotten several blank stares and unimpressed faces too. -cringe-   So today we're discussing those lessons learned so that you can upskill your public speaking skillset:
    1. Best self talk to have before your public talk
    2. Engaging & funny opening lines to get your talk started on the right foot
    3. Ensuring that etiquette, hygiene, ticks and etc. don't sabotage you
    4. Having a back-up plan for the unexpected
    5. Five part outline help easily remember the message

    Enjoy. Thanks for listening!

  • 6. Building a Work Community
    Apr 20 2023

In many cases our co-workers and colleagues can make or break the work experience. Which is why building a work community is a must! But finding a work community inside the job isn't always easy or recommended.

Today Allison starts the first of many conversations about finding your professional tribe. In this episode, she talks with her real-life-co-worker friend Nimo about how they became virtual-co-worker-friends, how all Black people are NOT a monolith especially as it applies to religion. Also they tell the story of the time Nimo checked Allison when she used a slur and should've known better. Whew chileee, somebody help!
