• #27: Life Beyond Borderline Personality Disorder - Recovery Story with Gene
    Nov 9 2023

If you are struggling with a mental health condition, you’re not alone…

In any given year, 1 in 5 people will suffer from a mental health condition -  and the rate is increasing worldwide.

In this episode, I speak with Gene. Gene hit rock bottom in 2021 after she was admitted to hospital for attempted suicide.

At the time she was suffering from depression, anxiety, body dysmorphia and an eating disorder. In hospital, she was diagnosed with Borderline personality disorder.

After being given a second chance at life and witnessing the heartbreaking impact her suicidal attempt made on her loved ones, Gene took the sincere path of healing:

In this inspirational podcast, Gene shares:

    • How she has transformed her mental health
    • The therapies and interventions that supported her most
    • The No. 1 ingredient in healing mental health
    • What the inward journey really looks like beyond what you see on social media, and
    • How to create long-term mental stability and happiness

I want to thank Gene for her courage and openness to share her recovery story, which has the potential to save lives.

  • #25: The Missing Link in Approaching Mental Health - with Luke
    Aug 16 2023

The number of people suffering from mental health conditions is increasing at unprecedented levels.

The question for those struggling with mental health is,

    1. Am I broken and need external interventions like medication and ongoing therapy to manage the symptoms? Or…
    2. Is the mental health condition a symptom of something that is within your control that can be healed through inner work practices, skills and habits that result in mental stability? Or…
    3. Is a combination of both necessary?

In this episode, I speak with Luke. Luke has struggled with symptoms and behaviours that closely reflect ADHD. His psychologist also agrees with his suspicions but he is yet to get a formal diagnosis from a specialist.

Luke has come onto the podcast to discuss his recent findings and to open up a broader conversation about how to approach mental health challenges from a Self Intelligence perspective.

A huge thank you to Luke for his courage in sharing his experience, which may be life-changing to anyone with a mental health condition and deeply insightful for anyone who wants to understand more about mental health and the different approaches that can be taken when working through it.

    Aug 10 2023

Relationship breakdown or divorce can be one of the greatest challenges you will ever face that offers a profound opportunity to take a deep and sincere look at yourself.

In this episode, I speak with Barb. Barb’s life took a very different path after her divorce. Instead of staying the victim of her experience, she decided to take the opportunity to go inside and find out why her husband left her.

In this raw discussion, Barb reveals what she learnt from her inner journey.

    We discuss:

    • The victim, perpetrator, rescue cycles

    • The unseen war taking place between the masculine and feminine

    • The necessity of inner child work

    • The inner fight that stops the ability to receive love

    • The shadow work necessary to create harmonious relationships

    • The process of going inside before dealing with relationship triggers

I want to thank Barb from the bottom of my heart for taking the journey from the head to her heart. I have the utmost love and respect for Barb. • #23: Healing from Sexual Abuse: Overcoming Victim Denial and Self-Hate
    Aug 3 2023

My guest, who chooses to remain anonymous, was sexually assaulted for several years by a school teacher at the age of 15 and also by a neighbour at the age of 9. The trauma she had experienced in these formative years led to a nervous breakdown and an identity crisis.

For most of her adult life, she has been trying to get her old self back through personal development courses, therapy, coaching and more to fix the pain she was feeling inside.

However, through all the attempts to fix herself, the connection between the nervous breakdown and the sexual abuse eluded her. In her mind, the abuse was all her responsibility and therefore she couldn’t see or accept the impact the abuse was having on her mental and emotional wellbeing or admit that she was a victim of a crime.

Only recently, after decades of soul searching has she discovered the path home to peace, stability and healing.

I want to thank my courageous guest for her bravery in discussing this topic, which will serve as inspiration for so many who live with the feeling that they are permanently damaged by trauma like sexual abuse.

  • #22: The System Is Broken: Find meaning and purpose in making a difference - Guest Session with Georgie
    Jul 28 2023

The vast majority of people in our world are experiencing a profound sense of discontentment, disillusionment and lack of purpose in their work and careers. People yearn for a greater sense of meaning in their life, recognizing that survival alone may not contain the ingredients for fulfilment.

In this episode, I speak with Georgie. Georgie was triggered by a podcast episode between Joe Rogan and Robert Kennedy Jr. that brought her back to the days when she worked in the medical industry as a dietician and pharmaceutical rep.

Her overall feeling was - the system is broken and it has to change!

While Georgie has made many changes in her career paths over the years she still feels a general sense of lacking meaning and purpose. So she reached out to have this discussion from the perspective of Self Intelligence.

A huge thank you to Georgie for opening up the discussion on meaning and purpose that affects so many.

  • #21: Why the honeymoon phase ends in a relationship and how to keep it - Guest Session (Anonymous)
    Jul 20 2023

Remember the exciting experience of the honeymoon period in a relationship. This time is full of spontaneity, attentiveness, respect, and love in what seems like an endless horizon of possibilities to share your life with someone who reciprocates the same feelings toward you.

However slowly but surely, what started as openness, love, passion and unlimited possibilities is replaced with blame, defensiveness, power struggles, game playing, judgement and nitpicking that can erode into mistrust and heavy resentment that blocks the love and connection that created the relationship in the first place.

My guest (who has chosen to remain anonymous) has reached out because they can feel the honeymoon is ending in their new relationship. My guest wants to ensure the love and connection they have isn’t tainted by ego, fear and judgement.

    In this episode we discuss

    • Why a honeymoon ends
    • What starts relationship triggers
    • How to stop being a punching bag for love
    • Why we mistake love for fear and start getting into our partner's business
    • The secret to an endless honeymoon

Big thank you to my guest for taking responsibility to ensure the love and respect discovered in the honeymoon of their relationship continues to grow and mature into a sacred union.
