    February 21, 1977, Chicago, Illinois. Fire fighters and police are called to the scene of an apartment on fire. When they battle their way through the smoke on the 15th floor, they put out a blaze of clothing and a mattress. Underneath the mattress was 48 year old Teresita Basa, a respiratory therapist originally from the Philippines—dead with a butcher knife still wedged in her chest.
