Rising Sky Ranch

Katherine has left Colby to start fresh after her agonizing divorce from Michael. After losing much of her support in Colby, Emporia would be a fresh start for her, as she accepts a loan officer position with Kansas Standard Bank. Katherine finds joy in her new life and in the new loan officer position with the bank. 

Gloria emerged from the kitchen with two bowls of vegetables and placed them next to large serving spoons. Next, she brought out a large cutting board with a glistening ribeye roast, its juices dripping into a groove around the edges of the board. She put the board and roast in front of Kenny along with two carving knives. After she brought out a bowl of thick chestnut-colored gravy, Gloria sat down next to Lance. Gloria emerged from the kitchen with bowls. 

In the middle of the Flinthills, Katherine Donnelly, a loan officer with Kansas Standard Bank, is trying desperately to save the Rising Sky Ranch. Kenny Wells, who inherited the failing ranch, finds it difficult to put aside his pride and take Katherine's advice. Putting their faith in God, the two work together in a battle to save the Rising Sky Ranch, and the man who once ignores Katherine in school begins to fall in love.

After living in Emporia for five years and working for Kansas Standard Bank, Katherine Donnelly returns to her childhood home in Colby. She confronts her abandonment after a failed marriage and after her family left her broken and afraid, but what she discovers changes everything. At Rising Sky Ranch in the Flinthills of Kansas, Kenny Wells and his nine-year-old son continue to work the cattle and protect the tallgrass prairie.
