About this listen

Luca 'Bones' Bonetti

My rightful place is at the head of the Bonetti empire. With my father dying, the pressure is on to prove I’m the man he can trust with his legacy. He has but one stipulation. I, Luca Bonetti, certified playboy, must take a wife.

When I find a stunning brunette attempting to steal from me, everything changes. Sweet little thief. She may be beautiful, but she chose the wrong man to mess with. I have two choices. Kill her, or use her to get what I want more than anything.

What I hadn’t bargained for:

Her refusal.

Her little body tempting me at every turn.

Her sassy little mouth.

What she doesn’t realize is the harder she fights, the more it thrills me. I love a challenge. And breaking in my butterfly will be nothing short of exhilarating.

When I chose this book I was hoping for a series similar The Dark Kingdom. The characters back story and overall mafia world was well thought out but the character arcs are lacking. Spoilers.. don’t read further if you don’t want to know.

My biggest issues with this book is that the inner turmoil of the FMC and MMC developed too quickly. It gave me whiplash. With the character backgrounds I wanted more depth and anguish that would eventually lead to healing. The emotions jumped too quickly and the audiobook reading by their performances is choppy. Too fast and the male audio performer made me cringe at the beginning. The way he voiced Luca almost made me stop the book. Eventually, it got better, as it seems Joe Arden settled into reading with more control rather than rapid fire.

Overall I enjoyed the book but not to the same level I wanted. The spice scenes were definitely the best part of the book. If only that level of detail was added to the characters emotions it would have been a 4 or 5 star review.
