I loved the voice acting. Joe carried the story. The story was ok with a lot of mediocre smut.

this is a great book really good story. Maybe a little to much internal monologue but still could not put it down.

Overhyped or maybe I didn’t know what to expect. But I was mostly uninterested until 96% in.

I did this as an immersive read - 📚ku & 🎧audible.

I have the other two books and am only picking up book 2 because of the slight cliffhanger. I don’t feel like the stakes are high enough for the praise this book is getting. Or maybe it’s just the wrong time of the month for my hormones to appreciate it. Maybe it’s not dark enough? Maybe this whole genre is boring me now. So many variables.

I read books where the magical fmc is under 20 all the time but I think this one is just… I dunno. She’s got nothing going for her. Zero likable qualities. And I read growly morally grey mmcs all the time and this one is sorta… boring almost.

🎧Duet style narration by Andi Eloise and Joe Arden was done well. I will say, personal opinion, I didn’t like her wolf’s voice. By no means am I a professional but I would imagine an inner animal voice to sound… well… like an animal. The sweet high angel voice didn’t fit the character for me. I found myself rolling my eyes more often than not.

No wheels were reinvented here. I feel like I’ve read this exact story 100 times now. The mmc isn’t special nor is the fmc. He doesn’t say anything over the top crazy or spicy. He doesn’t do anything extra. I thought I was getting a pet play scene but it fell flat for me. The fmc is supposed to be a brat and brat she does but it’s never actually sexy. It’s juvenile still. Like cringey juvenile.

Oh! You know what? His power was neat. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of something like that so there we go, 2nd star earned. I thought I was being generous but I feel better about my choices now.

An extra star could have been given if there was any indication of some sort of female friendship. Maybe we see more River in the second part.

If you’re on the fence, I would probably check out something else.

CJ what a debut!!! Where the hell I’m even going to start with this book?!First I would like to say this isn’t a five star is more God tier more ! Second, man is anyone in this book not sexy and attractive ?? Please pour some ice on me, the spice is … out of this world! Ok let’s get back to seriousness, we start with an absolutely delicious menu of TW and tropes. As a mental health professional, CJ was extremely careful with mentioning anything that could be a trigger. The character development in this book is absolutely amazing, you will fall in love even with side characters, not only with main characters. Alaina, our FMC, is a brat, with a insecurities, and trying to push people away to make sure they won’t leave. Dax, the MMC, is a tormented King that is so in touch with his emotions, an absolute delight and a great brat tamer in more ways then one! FYI: there is a cliffhanger in the first part.
Audiobook: OMG they killed it! Andi is a superstar, the voices, the accents and the performance everything chef kiss!! Andi has for sure made her way into my God tier narrators, listen and love! Joe I don’t know where to start he is a God, I can’t see Dax as anyone else then him and I can’t explain you but Joe unhinged is probably the perfect way to unleash a performer!
Congratulations everyone for a masterpiece!

This was my first CJ Sweet story and I'm absolutely in love!!! Not only is the story phenomenal but Joe and Andi's performance was what really pulled me in! Perfection!!
