From author Jescie Hall comes this dark and demanding stalker romance that pushes all the boundaries of exploring sexuality while simultaneously exposing the harsh realities of organized religion.

This book explores many dark topics. Please beware of the trigger warnings before listening. Your mental health matters.

Fornication is a sin.

As it reads, we should flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.

They teach us that these thoughts, these actions, are immoral. But that dark side that lives inside all of us, the true nature of man, drives us to seek the need that burns within, demanding to be set free. Deep inside of our bones lies that intrinsic need, one desperate to escape. An innate behavior, seemingly out of our control.

One that screams for sins they tell us are condemning.

Aero is the throat from which I scream.

The dark parts of myself I want hidden from this world are all he sees when he gazes at me beneath yet another mask.

He’s the demon drowning me in my own underlying desires.

He may never stop. Not until I succumb to my truths, or die beneath the weight of his unrelenting grasp.

Because according to him, the life I’ve been living is a hell far worse than death.

This book is really good, loved the story but it was the narrators who make it so mind blowingly fabulous!

Mind blowingly good!

The story line was amazing, the characters deep and true. Nice twists and turns with plenty of spice the fit so amazingly well with the storyline. Spice but not for the sake of spice. That narration though!! So glad my first time with this author was with this story and with these narrators. Just incredible.

Simply sick and twisted and amazing

Listened to it in a single day. I feel slightly bereft knowing I don’t have any more Aero.
The narration was god tier by both Desirée Ketchum and Joe Arden.
New audible skill unlocked during this listen: clips. They’re all of deliciously unhinged things Aero said.
This is dark-ish, so mind the TWs.
The spice was good, and there were a couple scenes that I’d never read before, and will live rent free in my head. First one being the scene at the club, and the second one a little later on with a… well. You’ll see. Rent free in my head, the whole scene. Ok fine, and maybe Aero’s POV in the epilogue. That was hot. I’d have liked to have seen it go further.
The plot was plotting. There was some mystery about backgrounds. I’m still unclear on a few things, but there would be spoilers if I talked about it so I won’t. I also could have just missed the answers. Perhaps a little flashback scene or two could have cleared that up real nice. What exactly happened in the past? Ok that’s all I’ll say on that.
I gave the story 4 stars because there wasn’t a single other woman in this book apart from the FMC. I always prefer my FMC to have a strong girlfriend who never betrays her, and someone to have a little banter with. When she’s not present, it’s not a god tier book in my eyes.
There was also no real banter in this book, minus another 0.5⭐️ to the story I guess. Nox was the only comedic relief in a very serious book.
So 3.5⭐️ in the end.
All in all, though, wonderful performance by both narrators and the story was different and gritty and triggering and full of real life red flags, but they’re just green flags in books.
I’d listen to it again if I had nothing else to listen to. I’ll listen to anything narrated with this kind of emotion more than once.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ ✨

First, this is quite dark so PLEASE check trigger warnings before listening or reading. Mental health is important!

Second, this was beyond amazing. The story was well written and captivating, made even more so by the vocal performances.

This is one of the best audio performances I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. The nuances in Joe Arden’s voicing for this, is absolutely insane… the amount of emotion he conveyed in this role left me entirely speechless. Absolutely one of the best performances I’ve heard from him.

I had my husband listen to it a bit because I just couldn’t express how captivating the performance was. Within 5 seconds of listening my husband went completely still (hard for an ADHD’er!) And just said “woah…” even he couldn’t put it into words.

Desiree Ketchum suited this role perfectly! I’ve loved her in every role I’ve heard her in, but this is my favourite of her thus far.

The book hangover I have from this is wild. I would listen to this over and over again (in spite of my own religious trauma). Stunning. Incredible. Worth a listen. Definitely worth triggering my past for me (but again, please keep in mind not everyone wants or should do that! It’s okay to care of yourself first.)

Incredible!
