Nevessa Allen strikes again.

The wait for this book was torture but boy was it worth it.

Lauren AKA Lau is a strong, powerful, sexy, speaks her own mind kinda women. She loves what she loves and she does not shy away from it. She knows what she wants and goes for it

Junior, born and raised in the mafia life, he is strong, powerful, gives no shits, walking red flag, wants what he wants and will stop at nothing until he gets it. And of course what he wants, what he always wanted, Lauren.

Let’s be real here, even with all the red flags we are routing for Junior to break down Lauren’s walls. The mouth, the possessiveness, the angst, every delicious Scene (insert photo and confessional booth 🥵🥵🥵).

Apart from all the yummy parts, this book also had emotions and growth. While some chapters were hot others were beautiful.

I had 0 doubts going into this that Teddy Hamilton was going to do a fantastic job. He brought Junior to life and went over expectation. The same with Kasi Hollowell. She gave a strong performance for Lauren and I could not imagine anyone else playing these 2 characters.

I really liked the story and loved the relationship between all the characters. Which Jacob Morgan would have did a guest appearance for Josh though because he will always be Josh lol I thought all narrators did a great job and loved the story 😊

It was good but not as good as lights out

I really enjoyed this book! While Lights Out remains my favorite—largely because of the dark humor and sharp banter between the main characters—I appreciated the touches of humor in this one too, even though it came more from the surrounding cast. It was a great read overall, just a slightly different vibe from the first.

2 down, 1 to go. Can’t wait for the next one!

Like any series, getting through the first one is highly recommended to get some of the backstory and/or form an opinion of the character(s) of the sequential stories. This one’s no exception. You know going in what Nico/Junior’s background is with his family’s business, but getting an insight to the man inside is a real eye-opener.

I will say Caught Up is a little more on the serious side and contains less laugh-out-loud moments than Lights Out (just my personal opinion), but does have a good storyline. The emotions, the spice, the need for independence, the furry companion that steals the spotlight, and of course, the banter - all still present in this addition to the trilogy. The appearance of certain characters was also a sweet treat...plus I’m positive who the next one is going to center on.

The narration also an excellent choice. Teddy Hamilton…if you’ve heard his work before, you know it goes without saying that he did right by his character(s).
Kasi Hollowell is a new name to me, but she did an excellent job giving Lauren/Lo a voice.

Overall, when it comes to sequels, this is definitely one of the better ones I’ve come across recently. I’m really looking forward to #3, though it was torture waiting so long for this one!

Not funny like book 1

This book was ok. I was disappointed that the banter and humor in book 1 wasn’t present in this book as that is what I was looking forward to. So that being said the spice is well written and the narration was fantastic. The characters and storyline fell flat for me but I’m not a fan of mafia books.
I love this author though so I’m still looking forward to her next book.

Definitely not Lights Out level

It was ok but just didn't have the same grab you that Lights Out had for me. I liked it but I won't be listening to it again. I just had a hard time getting invested in these characters. Sorry but it just missed the mark for me.

Another addictive story!

The duet narration was amazing. Teddy Hamilton NEVER disappoints, and he played Nico/Junior so well. Kasi Hollowell did a great job with Lauren/Lo. Together they brought this story to life!
I loved the first book in this series, and the second book lived up to the hype. Great dark romance, tension, spicy, and a great plot.

The first book was so good, so funny. This was a let down. Very little humour, doesn’t feel like it’s part of the same series. It’s not a bad book, just not at all what I was expecting based on Lights Out.
