Description

Eric Yang is 32, a combat veteran of the Saudi War, and a student at Denver University (DU). His goal was to reintegrate back into society. His service freed him from the mistakes of his past. His dedication pushed him to achieve more from life even with his disabilities. While not all scars from war are visible, Eric was given a cybernetic arm that even scientists in 2032 considered futuristic.

An isolated semester at DU is disrupted by his doctor's dire warning. The asteroid barreling toward Earth is an alien spacecraft with hostile intent. Eric scrambles to plan, consolidate, and form his team while the rest of an oblivious society is prevented from accessing vital information.

definitely an adventure

it is another unique take on the post-apocalyptic try to survive world. with a harem build. and amalgamation of old modern and futuristic Tech. it is pretty good the main character has his dark side but also his good side. there are a few things that even throughout the entirety of the series he doesn't quite get a handle on. but that is what it is. it's not like we humans are much better at finalizing our own character backstory and renewal. all the characters overall have anywhere from some depth to a lot of depth. and there are maybe a dozen characters overall that are really throw away out of like a hundred different people that get introduced. there is a lot of laughter a lot of sadness a lot of bedroom activity. and a lot of innocence of children vibes that this book gives off to make it a whole package.

I only ever give generalized reviews because I want you to listen to it without any of my own biases.

the voice acting could do with a little bit more than just the two that come into it. because as good as they are and boy howdy does Jack come into this with a lot more voices. but there are multiple times between both male and female that we can easily lose who is talking and to whom. but I am very particular to these two voice actors and love them in everything they do. because they have just this the right inflection of their voices to make you believe everything that you need to. and towards the final book there is a character who when Jack started using that voice I had to stop and just let out of humongous belly laugh because of that particular voice being attached to that particular character was freaking hilarious

Had to rate this series 3 stars

I would have given this book four stars which is nearly a perfect book and a three stars which means its a good book or series, anyways
I really enjoy Marcus Sloss's work in fact I rate his Gryff The Griffin Rider a four star and Maidens of Mixonia a five star series but Cyber Vikings doesn't quite check all the boxes for me, it's a well written series albeit a fairly slow burn, the world building is somewhat there but not quite to the detail I enjoy rather its more focused on the various characters themselves and what they are doing at any given time- for example I know what Eric ate for breakfast, how he feels, what his plans for that day are, that the camp is running low on various supplies and so on, that's not a bad thing but it's missing quite a bit of world building. The harem elements are fairly low detail and not overly done which I enjoy, I personally like the MC and the fact that he is not the jealous type of person, the side characters are mostly well done and likeable, the overall conflict is quite interesting and there is some pretty good humor sprinkled in, there is more but you get the point.
I do recommend this series, its not his best work but I is still enjoyable. Its a solid 3.5 stars
