À propos de cet audio
A road map for building strong and secure relationships for those who struggle with anxiety in their romantic connections.
An estimated 47 million Americans identify as having an anxious attachment style, which can make being in relationships turbulent and emotionally taxing for them. According to groundbreaking research in the field of attachment, anxious types are more prone to insecurity, jealousy, codependency, and other behaviors that get in the way of finding and sustaining love. In Anxiously Attached, seasoned psychotherapist and couples counselor Jessica Baum guides listeners through understanding their attachment style at its core and building the inner strength and self-love that will lead them to more secure and satisfying relationships.
Developed over ten years in private practice, Baum’s signature Self-full® Method has helped her clients get off the toxic roller coaster of anxious attachment and discover the secure and mutually supportive relationships they deserve. In this book readers will learn how to:
- Create boundaries to safeguard their sense of self-sovereignty in relationships
- Communicate to their partners what they need to feel safe and secure in the relationship
- Develop a secure sense of self-worth and emotional stability
- Learn the true meaning of a healthy/interdependent relationship and how to establish one with their partner or future partner.
- Discover a compassionate path towards healing through experiences like mediation practices where they can start to develop more insight into their internal landscape.
- Attain a deep understanding of the anxious-avoidant dance that is extremely common in intimacy struggles.
Anxiously Attached offers a practical and holistic approach for overcoming anxious attachment issues to discover happier, more fulfilling relationships.

You picked up this book because your breakup has been reduced to something that you feel you must “win” to emotionally survive and move on. This reduction can only take place if you were involved with a toxic person. Toxic people are selfish, empathetically bankrupt, and have a limited relationship with reality. Anyone who feels validated by exploiting your hunger for theirs is toxic - to your peace, your life, and your mental health.

People in relationships with avoidants struggle with their lack of responsiveness and inability to tolerate real intimacy. Relationships between an avoidant and a partner of another attachment type are the largest group of unhappy relationships, and people who love their partners and who may have started families and had children with an avoidant will work very hard to try to make their relationships work better, out of love for their partner and children as well as their own happiness.

The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

How we fight predicts the future of our relationships. Most of us blunder into conflict without knowing what we are really fighting about and then quickly become overwhelmed by physiological responses we can’t control and emotions we don’t anticipate. The truth is the happiest and most successful couples fight—all the time. Conflict is human, and necessary.

Did you know that men secretly use texting as a way to "pre-screen" a woman’s romantic value? A woman’s texting habits can reveal a lot about her self-worth, confidence, intelligence, and even her level of class and emotional maturity. Because guys covertly appraise a woman’s relationship potential this way, many women often have no idea that the way they communicate via text is actually sending the wrong message and thus, they unknowingly end up chasing men away.

Wonderful

Even if everything isn't 100 per cent applicable, you will get something from this. While it's focused on anxious attachment types, it deals with the dichotomy between them and the anxiously avoidant. Much of this is framed from an outside perspective and not only encourages empathy, but might help the odd avoidant person down their own path somewhat.
The science-based approach, talking about the interplay with our cognitive systems, was what really got me and helped me understand where certain things are coming from. You will come away knowing yourself a little better.
I've finished my first pass through and will be popping back to revisit some points earlier on. Give it a go.
