Description

What if Belle's mother cursed the Beast? As Old as Time is the third book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways.

When Belle touches the Beast's enchanted rose, memories flood through Belle's mind - memories of a mother she thought she would never see again. And, stranger still, she sees that her mother is none other than the beautiful enchantress who cursed the castle and all its inhabitants. Shocked and confused, Belle and the Beast will have to unravel a dark mystery about their families that is 21 years in the making.

❤️❤️love

I really liked this retelling. It would be awesome if they made a movie.
It would be even better if there was a second book...a continuation of the ending.

Phenomenal Twist on a Beloved Story

This book was such a good read. It was so interesting to observe such a good plot addition to one of my favourite stories. This is definitely one of my new favourite books and I cannot wait to listen and read more of these Twisted Tales!

As Old As Time (Twisted Tales #3) by Liz Braswell

The Story
This starts a story of Rosalind and Maurice. Rosalind had magical powers as did many in the village in France. The evil King and Queen at the time didn't like this and started taking all of the magical people away. They were attacked on the streets, etc. Most of these les charmantes were very nice people - ish. Most of the ones that were left, moved to right outside the village to a new village of their own. Maurice and Rosalind had little Belle . Meanwhile in the kingdom people become sick with a fever and those with magical abilities are disappearing.
The story is told in two different storylines at the beginning: Belle's present and Maurice's past. The start of the present day in the book was pretty similar to the movie until mid way through the book. What I liked about this was how we got to see Belle's parents meet and their lives before Belle came to be. Braswell created this entire world we never knew existed and it actually fit in really well with the version of events we all know.

Predictability
For the most part, this story was pretty predictable, at least once the first part of the story was over. In fact, there was a very noticeable lull for me, and I think that has to do with the fact that most of the mystery that Belle and the Beast are trying to solve in the second part is explained or at the very least heavily implied by the back story chapters from the first part. There are a few surprises here and there and once the third part begins the tension starts to build back up again, but there were times when a twist would finally be implemented or revealed and I wouldn't have much of a reaction because it was either already confirmed by the backstory or heavily implied that it took me a while before I realized that I was even supposed to have a reaction.

Romance
I don’t know if I was really expecting romance from this story or if I was just going along with the plot but I was a bit disappointed with the outcome of the romance.

The Ending
but still I did kind of enjoyed the story .. that was until I reached the end .. I mean .. WHAT KIND OF ENDING WAS THAT ??!!! I know this is a stand alone, and it definitely works as such, but there's a big of a door left open at the end and I kind of wish there were more, but at the same time I can kind of draw my own conclusions on what happens.
