For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Description
The number one New York Times best seller. Over one million copies sold!
Tiny Changes, Remarkable Results
No matter your goals, Atomic Habits offers a proven framework for improving - every day. James Clear, one of the world's leading experts on habit formation, reveals practical strategies that will teach you exactly how to form good habits, break bad ones, and master the tiny behaviors that lead to remarkable results.
If you're having trouble changing your habits, the problem isn't you. The problem is your system. Bad habits repeat themselves again and again not because you don't want to change, but because you have the wrong system for change. You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems. Here, you'll get a proven system that can take you to new heights.
Clear is known for his ability to distill complex topics into simple behaviors that can be easily applied to daily life and work. Here, he draws on the most proven ideas from biology, psychology, and neuroscience to create an easy-to-understand guide for making good habits inevitable and bad habits impossible. Along the way, listeners will be inspired and entertained with true stories from Olympic gold medalists, award-winning artists, business leaders, life-saving physicians, and star comedians who have used the science of small habits to master their craft and vault to the top of their field.
Learn how to:
- Make time for new habits (even when life gets crazy)
- Overcome a lack of motivation and willpower
- Design your environment to make success easier
- Get back on track when you fall off course
- And much more
Atomic Habits will reshape the way you think about progress and success, and give you the tools and strategies you need to transform your habits - whether you are a team looking to win a championship, an organization hoping to redefine an industry, or simply an individual who wishes to quit smoking, lose weight, reduce stress, or achieve any other goal.
Ce que les critiques en disent

"In Atomic Habits, Clear will show you how to overcome a lack of motivation, change your environment to encourage success, and make time for new (and better) habits." (Glamour.com)
"Atomic Habits is a great book for anyone who is frustrated with the way they can’t seem to kick that one (or two dozen) bad habit(s) and wants to finally achieve health, fitness, financial freedom, great relationships, and a good life." (Medium.com)

An actually actionable self help book.
Don't think of this a self help book.
Here's why:
It doesn't drag out the same points over and over again.
It doesn't give you examples of super humans achieving super feats.
It doesn't give you a formula for success
It's not trying to "inspire you" that's BS and we all know it.
The recommendations are actionable. They're not weird either. Unfortunately, for the most part, we are the summation of our habits. Changing those habits....
Making the changes described in this book won't be trivial either. But there are some quick hits you can apply right away. It's a horrible cliche but you might call them "life hacks".
Now having used that phrase I'm going to put my head in the toilet bowl and start flushing.

READ THIS BOOK NOW. LIKE, NOW!!
Excellent on many levels.
Habits and structure aren’t the sexiest things in the world. And after years of indoctrination, I found myself polarized from anything that felt restrictive.
What I am coming to know, greatly due to this book, is that my human brain can always be rewired. No matter how unsexy structure can seem, it IS the way for us to thrive.
It is in creating containers that we can flow freely through life. And maximize its level of quality.
Hugely recommended.

The ultimate 'how to change your life' manual.
This book complements my other favourite book 'The Power of Habit' by Charles Duhigg.
While 'The Power of Habit' answers the 'how' and 'why' of habit change and accompanies research, 'Atomic habits' shows us how to apply these changes with much needed everyday examples.
This book is basically a much needed sequel to the above mentioned book, complete with an instruction manual on how to initiate and stick with habit changes, along with other resources for a common person.
I'm glad I bought it and heard it start to finish.

Good for those new to habit creation.
This books felt like a regurgitation of many other books, and often had the exact same examples and references to build on ideas.
If you have read books like The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy, for example, a lot of this book will feel redundant.
For me this book was a waste of time.
If you have never read a book on creating habits before you May find this book useful.

Motivational and very well-structured book!
I genuinely enjoyed listening to this audiobook. (which also happened to be my first) Although English is not my first language, I found the reading by the author very clear and well-structured. I also find it very easy to navigate.
As an eternal procrastinator, this book offered me a fresh perspective on habits and their power that I didn’t truly realize. What I like the most about this book, is how action-oriented it is. It is full of tips that everyone can apply immediately in their daily life.
The only negative part is that I didn’t find the pdf resources the author mentioned in the book. Else it is great!! I feel motivated to put some of the advice of the author into practice. 😊

Very good book on habits
It may not be rocket science, but it gets the job very well done. It provides you with logical arguments and solutions. Very methodical and easy to apply in order to change your life for the better.

The power of #habits
In this book, the author shows that becoming and epic performer relies less on an innate hability of doing things better than others. instead, if one can identify a field in which they are ready to invest time energy and all, they will become so good that they can't be ignored. the secret of it all relies on sticking to the right habits and building them over time and also getting rid of the wrong ones.

Author went overboard hawking his site
I would have enjoyed this book a lot more if he had held back in promoting his website half a dozen times per chapter. That was completely unnecessary and created a disappointing experience for readers.

Decent ideas, had to stretch to make it a book
The practical tips for habit forming are helpful. But dont buy this. This is one blog post stretched out into a book with lots of fluff.

Habits: The James Clear Story
Signed up for a self-help book. Got a grueling history of the authors high school sports accomplishments. Pass.

It starts with definitions from the dictionary.
That is all you need to know to infer that the quality of the rest of the writing is sophmoric.

Wish I Could get credit back
Sadly, the book is more an advertisement to a website rather than a good read through. Blinkist offers a great breakdown of the book which is far more valuable than the consistent suggestions of the authors' website.

The "after book" is awful
The book itself is very good, it really brings very interesting things, although they are common sense, they are very well said, the problem is that the author throughout the book (seriously, all the time) promises extra material in a web page that ... oh surprise, it does not exist, honestly that was a disappointment to me, because if I buy the book, where a thing is promised that then does not exist, I feel like I have been cheated. Inevitably every time I see some other product of this same author, I do not intend to buy it, because I think I will be deceived again with something else.

Frequent mention of website very annoying.
It is hard to listen after the 3rd plugin to the website, kinda lost interest in the book.

Good Actionable Content
This was a decent follow up to Charles Duhigg's The Power of Habit but not as engaging to me.
What Clear lacks, by comparison, in the narrative space he makes up for with an actionable approach.
This is a decent investment for the time required. I would suggest reading Duhigg first.
