Description

Number one New York Times best seller

Jack Reacher comes to the aid of an elderly couple...and confronts his most dangerous opponents yet.

"Jack Reacher is today’s James Bond, a thriller hero we can’t get enough of." (Ken Follett)

"This is a random universe", Reacher says. "Once in a blue moon things turn out just right."

This isn’t one of those times.

Reacher is on a Greyhound bus, minding his own business, with no particular place to go and all the time in the world to get there. Then, he steps off the bus to help an old man who is obviously just a victim waiting to happen. But you know what they say about good deeds. Now, Reacher wants to make it right.

An elderly couple have made a few well-meaning mistakes, and now they owe big money to some very bad people. One brazen move leads to another, and suddenly Reacher finds himself a wanted man in the middle of a brutal turf war between rival Ukrainian and Albanian gangs.

Reacher has to stay one step ahead of the loan sharks, the thugs, and the assassins. He teams up with a fed-up waitress who knows a little more than she’s letting on, and sets out to take down the powerful and make the greedy pay. It’s a long shot. The odds are against him. But Reacher believes in a certain kind of justice...the kind that comes along once in a blue moon.

Jack Reacher is off the chain

Great story line. Couldn't stop listening. Moments made me cringe and laugh out loud. Narrator's voice was spot on. Captivating

too much uncontrolled vigilantism

Reacher has lost his moral compass and is now portrayed as continuslly disrespectful, uncaring and a out of control vigilante the story lives on rage primarily gonna return this for a refund, last Reacher novel for me I'm looking for story lines which include personal humanity

Good read, fast-paced and tight narrative. Classic Jack Reacher. Good triumphs over evil once again.

Blue Something but not Moon

If this was my first Jack Reacher book, it would have been the last. I’m not sure who wrote this book, but it wasn’t Lee Child. The fights were fake, Reachers involvement lacked sincerity. The narrator was weak. Save your money, buy an Archie comic instead.

Thumbs Up

A great no holds barred book. Have Scott Brick narrate can add to any book. He’s the best out there.

Interesting but longer than necessary

The story itself is interesting but there is too much description and descriptive options to the point where you lose interest but realize you haven't really missed any important details

Reacher as stubborn & lethal as ever

Lee Child remains the master at weaving a story within a story to make Jack Reacher's entry into a larger, darker plot plausible and satisfying. This tale adds a nice touch by adding current events I cant reveal without spoilers to drive the action forward.

Blessings to Lee Child....don’t retire!!

I love it when evil gets its comeuppance in heaps. Finally our beloved Jack Reacher is equal to Vince Flynn’s “Mitch Rapp”in dishing out justice and pain....this time finally it’s of the DEADLY variety. I’m not fond of authors who let OUR heroes be subjected to pain...A lot of my fellow readers are in some sort of pain LOL...me with my shoulder tendinitis LOL. So thank you MR Child for the excellent particularly Reacher dialogue and this time deadly retribution.....blessings to my fellow readers for the New year.

Judge for yourself...

I wrote this review the evening this book was released but Audible chose to hold it for three days. I don’t get it! I know Lee Child doesn’t need me to run to his defense BUT I’m about 3/4 into this book and saw someone had already really down rated this book because Scott Brick is the narrator! Too bad that Dick Hill retired but people complained about him as well. Scott Brick does a fabulous job narrating and his accents are equally as good. Fifteen minutes into this book and Reacher already lays a 20 something year old guy out on the sidewalk. The kid was going to rob a seventy something year old man of thousands of dollars. The man is bruised and hurting and yet he still tells Reacher not to call the police. They might want to know why he is carrying thousands in cash, in an envelope in his pocket. This book starts out as every old Reacher book does. Lee Child came up with a formula with his first Jack Reacher book, The Killing Floor. It seems as long as he sticks with that formula his books come out PERFECT. This book is just that! Whether you are a fan of Scott Brick’s or not, I don’t think it’s fair to give this book a low ratings based solely on the narrator. This book has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

Action Packed

I am a big fan of Jack Reacher. I have over the years primarily read this series on audiobooks. Dick Hill has narrated all the series until the last book when he retired. To me, Dick Hill was Jack Reacher. I am a fan of Scott Brick, the new narrator of the series, but I am having problems adjusting to Brick as Reacher. Oh well, I will adapt. In this book Reacher takes on two gangs to help an elderly couple who have borrowed money from the gangs. The book is well written and the plot twists and turns. The story is action packed with lots of violence. The book is easy to read and almost impossible to put down. Lee Child’s is a master storyteller. I can hardly wait for the next Reacher book. The book is eleven hours and twenty-one minutes. Scott Brick does a good job narrating the book. Brick is a well-known award-winning narrator.

Not my favourite but a good book

I understand the dilemma with Scott reading but if he was there from the beginning you'd never notice. Scott has read all my Clancy's and I like his style. Hill always sounded like Inspector Lugar on Barney Miller but I got used to it. The story was awesome only because we all wish that someone would deal with these types of Mafia and they deserve to die ugly because they don't care about anyone else but their own agenda. My only complaint was Reacher was never that chatty in previous books, almost as if Child had a ghost writer that didn't get Reachers style.

Let's get over the Hill versus Brick issue

Dick Hill retired!!! Yes, he embodied Jack Reacher like no other. But at least they selected my favorite reader in Scott Brick (who will always be Lucas Davenport, Virgil Flowers, Jason Bourne, Jack Ryan, Dirk Pitt, John Corey and a host of other characters). The story is first rate as all of Lee Child's Reacher stories are and Scott's performance is perfect. I will continue to buy Reacher books and listen to the old ones when I want the ole Dick Hill flavor. Nobody can read like Dick, but Scott is a great replacement.

Mass murderer!

This was the worst Reacher I’ve ever heard. This was not the Reacher I’ve grown to love. He’s turned into a mass murderer. The reader is too theatrical and flip, he’s no Dick Hill.

Did Lee Child really write this book?

I have read all Reacher books more than once over the years and was extremely disappointed with Blue Moon. Either Lee has lost his touch or he was too busy to pen this one himself and had a ghost do it for him. Very disappointed i'm afraid, will have to consol myself by re-reading an earlier one.

Worst Reacher to date

I think I have said that on at least the last few books. This just drones on and on. I still have 3 hours left and will only keep listening to see how the old couple makes out. no one will ever come close to Dick Hill reading Reacher. I listen to other books Scott Brick reads and he is fine with those. But some reason he reads Reacher with a strange cadence. It’s annoying and detracts from the story line which doesn’t have any redeeming qualities. The story might come off a little better if Dick was reading but the story is boring, repetitive and just moronic almost sadly comedic with the portrayal of the Albanians and Ukrainians. Reacher need to retire, the only way that will happen is if Lee kills him off. I miss the old Reacher

Thumbs down...don’t buy this book.

If you are a Reacher fan as I am, you will be disappointed. I don’t know who wrote this book, but with the common practice of having other people write a story, I’m assuming that’s what happened. Jack Reacher is totally out of character and violent. Even the end (spoiler alert) where he walks away feeling good about the brick of money he stole from some mobster is totally out of character. Money has never been a motivating factor for Reacher. That’s a couple of examples. If you do buy this book based on the past reputation of Lee Childs you will be very disappointed. I gave it one star so people will see this before they start. Save your money or credits.
