What ride!
This is one of those dystopian future books but its more like a bastard love child from a orgy between something like the hunger games and running man where you have to compete with other people doing probably not so nice stuff to other beings to survive and do it with style to gain popularity with the viewers, dungeon and dragons obviously cause you going down and it only get darker and harder and your gonna do some grinding to level up and stay safe, as well as gameplay and AI from the likes of Mr Torque and Claptrap from the Borderlands franchise. Wrap all that up in the mostly first person narration and storyline coming from a your average Joe with average problems that are entirely relatable with a voice and attitude like an 80's cop in a story that the mc can keep getting his ass kicked and somehow still progress. also he's got an adorable sidekick and there are Aliens. I blazed through 2 books in a couple of days and can wait for my next credit to hit the third. well done by both hays and dinnaman!

Must listen LitRPG! Funny and loaded with action
I loved this book. Note, I love this series and had read the book before. I listened to it with my husband, who hadn't read the book before, and he also loved it. DO start with book 1, or you'll probably be lost. And book 1 is great fun too.
The narrator does an INCREDIBLE job.
This book assumes some familiarity with what's going on. The narrator is GREAT. His voice captures the unique feel of Dungeon Crawler Carl. There's an element of sheer incredulity in this series. It has a talking stuck up cat throwing magic missiles. Yet, the characterizations are real. It's not something that could happen in the real world.
It pokes fun at the reality television trend in a really fun way. There's a part of me that thinks that people can be that twisted. Carl himself isn't twisted, and you really feel that anger along with him.If you liked book 1, you want to listen to this. We started this immediately after finishing book 1, and it's just as good. We're now on book 3.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

absolutely wonderful
fucking legendary. took a leap of faith for the voice of Jeff Hayes and turned out this was the best damn series I've found in ages.
hooked. 10/10 will listen again in like a week.

Better and better!!!
Just keep listening to these. They're SO entertaining! A+++. Fantastic narration and storyline!! If you loved the first, you'll love this one. CANNOT wait to start the next one!

I was Wrong
I do not write reviews very often however this series deserves one. Second book in and it is a fantastic story and performance. Reading the original description I was not expecting the wonderful adventure that these audio books truly are. Looking forward to the rest of this series.

love it! ❤️
I don't normally enjoy video game genre books, but this book was exceptionally well done. Love the voice acting and story. I'm thankful I took a chance on the first book. Carl and Dounut are such lovable characters. Can't wait to listen the next one in the series. Here's hoping, Princess Dounut gets herself a new crown!

Great voice acting!
Jeff is Carl personified. Book 2 had some weaker moments but overall a blast (literally).
