Description

From the best-selling author of The Marriage Lie and Three Days Missing comes a riveting new novel of suspense about a woman who, in a fight for survival, must decide just how far she’ll go to escape the person she once loved

Beth Murphy is on the run....

For nearly a year, Beth has been planning for this day. A day some people might call any other Wednesday, but Beth prefers to see it as her new beginning - one with a new look, new name, and new city. Beth has given her plan significant thought, because one small slip and her violent husband will find her.

Sabine Hardison is missing....

A couple hundred miles away, Jeffrey returns home from a work trip to find his wife, Sabine, is missing. Wherever she is, she’s taken almost nothing with her. Her abandoned car is the only evidence the police have, and all signs point to foul play.

As the police search for leads, the case becomes more and more convoluted. Sabine’s carefully laid plans for her future indicate trouble at home and a husband who would be better off with her gone. The detective on the case will stop at nothing to find out what happened and bring this missing woman home. Where is Sabine? And who is Beth? The only thing that’s certain is that someone is lying, and the truth won’t stay buried for long.

Great story & execution

Wow, great story! Fast-paced with great characters who were pretty realistic. For approx 5 hrs I couldn't predict the twist coming near the end.

Deducting 1 star for the narrator who portrayed Jeffrey. The other 2 narrators were fantastic and seemed to understand their audience's needs. I listen to audiobooks while driving, vacuuming, puttering in the kitchen and showering. From I understand, most people do. So a constant-volume, even-toned voice works best for this. The "Jeffrey" narrator's overacting made it impossible to hear his dialogue properly. Extreme highs and lows, yelling and mumbling..... it seems he thinks we listen to audiobooks in a perfectly quiet room, while doing nothing else. He portrayed Jeffrey's character well, but my constant rewinding to hear what he was saying took me out of the story. Otherwise, the audiobook would have been 5 stars.

Wow

This book is a combination of Sleeping with the Enemy and Rose Madder by Stephen King. Great book. The narrators were fabulous! The voice of Jeff made me laugh out loud more than once—-well written book!

Entertaining.. but could’ve skipped some & added some

I really did like this book, but I felt a little cheated. Some books drag on and on, but for me, this one kind of failed to dig in the claws and fully develop the characters, and then dragged on in other areas. It did, however, keep me listening and had a good twist that I didn’t see coming. If you like a somewhat short & “to the point” thriller, this is perfect for you.

Freaking awesome!

So the big surprise didn’t surprise me, I guess that’s the writer in me. But it doesn’t matter if you know it or not, it’s still a freaking awesome book!!!! Gripping and intense from the beginning. Great all the way through. Perfection. I hope to one day write a book at least half this good.

Dear Wife<br />

This is my first book by this author. I will definitely get another one. Interesting and I never got bored or skipped further along. This is a credit worthy book.

Wow

So glad I got this book. I’ve had trouble finding things that will hold my attention but this did it. Thank you to the author!! I enjoyed this so much. It kept me guessing right up until the twist was given to me. After it was revealed it still kept me going. You can’t go wrong with this.

Interesting story but misses the mark factually

Everyone in this book pretty much acknowledges this woman has been brutally abused, miscarried multiple times, and left of her own volition. Yet the detective in the story pursues her relentlessly and calls her ‘that bitch’ for changing her name late in the book. When law enforcement knows a person left voluntarily, especially to flee abuse, they are not going to spend resources finding her, much less call her a bitch. Just the musings of a former criminal attorney. The story is still mildly entertaining despite the glaring factual holes. The narrators are great as well.

This book captured my attention throughout. Amazing twists, absolutely love it and loves what Emma represents quiet and determined strength. Great book.

Great book

The story was fantastic, but I was disappointed at the performance. Her "Latina" accent sounded more Irish than Mexican. It pulled me out of the story a bit, which the narration should never do. Otherwise, great listen.

I guess it passed the time. That’s about it.

No surprises. No character development, the Mexican accent was laughable. The overly breathy voice of “Beth “. Someone send me a recommendation for a good book. I feel like so many authors are trying to be tricky or have a twist but don’t really have a good story or characters.
