À propos de cet audio

An Astra Militarum Audiobook

On a planet trapped in the closing jaws of the Great Devourer, Major Wulf Khan of the Catachan 903rd receives a final, desperate mission – one which will take her soldiers into the maw of the tyranid threat.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

It’s a chance to see the Catachan Jungle Fighters in action on a planet almost as deadly as their homeworld. Dive into their gripping battle for survival as they face a voracious force of invading tyranids.

THE STORY

Lazulai is a world beyond the brink, its battle against the tyranids all but lost. Once-magnificent cities lie in ruin. The seas boil. The skies crack. Horrific alien bioforms devour. In mere days the planet will be consumed.

The 903rd Catachan ‘Night Shrikes’ defend one of the last fortresses still standing. Led by Major Wulf Khan, to die fighting is all that is expected of them… until she is given one last mission: to lead a squad through the apocalypse and recover a piece of archeotech that may doom or deliver the entire Lazulai System.

Facing impossible odds and zero hope for aid, the major must hold her squad together as they pick their way through an endless xenos jungle. The enemy is merciless, relentless, endlessly adaptable and formidably resourceful... but so too is Khan.

Story is nothing crazy but was a fun listen. Easy to follow and good characters.

There is some mystery with the cultist and Tyranid connection.

Curious if this is linked to Crawl take that he can revive planets eaten by Tyranids.

Great listen and Tyranid planet eating details

Narration and the writing really captures the catachan spirit. Lots of descriptive depictions of tyranid bioforms.

Really good

Deathworlder is filled with all the great action movie tropes of the 80s we've come to love, but through a 40k lens. The characters are all appropriately larger than life while staying relatable and have close nit ties to one another that makes you feel for them every time they're forced into another terrible situation. As a huge tyranids fan myself, I vey much appreciated the detail Victoria Hayward goes into when describing the planet and our characters slowing being digested by the hive fleet and the horror of fighting back against an entire planet that wants to kill you. A great read if you like tyranids, imperial guard and stories starting the action women of the 1980s.

Best action movie I've read in a while!

easily one of the worst 40k novels I've encountered so far. The last hour alone was over written and just not good. The author spends so much time reminding us that one of the protagonists is a very large woman and that people from catachan and cadia are different but they're all the same but still different. Did I mention they're from a deathworld? ok don't you forget they're from a deathworld! deathworld.

and everyone roared

the narrator tried too hard to exaggerate how hard-core things are supposed to sound. like how you would tell a scary story to kids. combined with the old timey accent, it was tough to listen.

I also was looking forward to some action against the tyrranids. this book felt like the main storyline was talking about Catachan. The soldiers are from Catachan and its very hard-core apparently. you will be reminded of this every thier sentence through the book. You will be really tired of hearing about it after a couple of hours but I promise you, it won't stop.

so far this is the worst warhammer audiobook ive listened to

like a scary campfire story being told to children

There's so many other better books out there. I was hopeful for this one but it felt like such a drag. Coming from catachan devils this one just hit different and not in a good way

I struggled
