Self help without feeling like a self help book

Listening was a joy. I now feel much better equipped to help not only myself, but also friends or family members who have been struggling with depression and bipolar disorder

Effective, professional, genuinely compassionate

I find this book offers professional, effective help. Suggestions and examples are always on point and very applicable to my circumstances. The reader's tone is compassionate and humourous, easing the telling of truths that are very personal. Good ideas and effective approaches in this subject are hard to come by, and I have found them in this book.

Very practical methods for self help

Great detailed insights for different negative emotions like guilt, failure, rejection, loss etc. and according practical methods for self help. I learnt so much and definitely recommend it to everyone. I listened to audio book. It took me a little while to get used to the author’s pronunciations. Would be better if read by a professional book reader. Still great value!!!

Better than years of therapy

This book is really terrific. I hesitated to buy it at first because his delivery. is. so. choppy. and. I. thought. it. would. drive. me. nuts. but his voice is surprisingly well modulated and the parts where he quotes his clients are often hilarious.
I listened to it all the way through but its the type of book you can listen to many times. I would definitely buy his other book if audible ever carries it.

Entertaining, Practical and Helpful

I came across this author after watching his TED talk, which I highly recommend for you to watch! I truly enjoyed listening to this book! Forget all those other self-help books. I've read quite a few and this one is, by far, my favorite! He offers helpful, realistic advice and addresses various issues from different points of view and encourages you to do the same. I can easily apply the advice given in his book to different aspects of my life and already notice a difference. I'm now inspired to stand up for myself against fake "friends" and work on my self-esteem and confidence so that I don't have to be stuck doing work I don't enjoy and improve and build my skills that will allow me to get a better job and/or start my own business.

I highly recommend this!

 we sustain more injuries to our psychological health (often multiple times daily) yet our physical health is so much more important than our psychological health. 
this book looks at the most common assaults on our psychological well-being and gives us ways to counter/stop their influence on our lives.
the author is careful to point out in this book the times when his recommendations don't seem to work for you and it would be crucial to seek professional in person help.

insightful and delightful

I really enjoyed the author's sense of humor! it adds the necessary comic-relief needed for such a sore topic. and really makes you laugh out loud. his accent is also nice to listen to. oh, and the book is helpful and insightful

An emotional band aid itself

I love this book and Dr. Winch. His voice is so warm and calming and is a band aid itself - his voice and Dr Winch himself. Great advise great understanding i wish i could talk to him in person. Has listened to the book 3 or 4 times maybe five and constantly coming back to it... great to calm down thoughts when you cant fall asleep in the crazy thought chaos...

A must needed literacy for our current society

This audiobook gives us some basic tools to start our emotional literacy. Using this "first aid" emotional tool box, will afford us the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute with emotional efficacy.
Excellent audiobook, worth the time and money!

How to deal with shit and be happy

Would you consider the audio edition of Emotional First Aid to be better than the print version?

No, particulary I think this book would be better in printed, even better, it should be (if it is not yet) a workbook with it. It is very interactive, there's homework to do.

What did you like best about this story?

The best about the book is the practical angle. Shit happens, deal with it. Shit will happen, be ready. Build resiliance. That kind of stuff.

What did you learn from Emotional First Aid that you would use in your daily life?

I finished the audiobook. Maybe I will buy the kindle edition to work with it. It needs that the reader works on the information that he/she just acquired.
