Description

Book 2 of the next great Fantasy LitRPG Series by Seth Ring, author of Nova Terra. Get your copy today and explore a world whose secrets have been buried under decades of war.

About the Series: Mixing slice-of-life with epic fantasy action, mystery, magic, cultivation, and a broken game system that seems determined to make everything as hard as possible for the already overpowered protagonist, this LitRPG/GameLit series is perfect for those who enjoy exploring rich worlds and complex characters.

The writing is great. The unraveling of plot threads is masterful.

With this book, Seth Ring is definitely in my top 5 favourite authors in today’s Fantasy/Sci-Fi arena. Great writing, excellent timing, a universe full of potential and mystery—add all that with Zero inserted personal opinions.

Sidenote: After reading The Titan Series, I thought I’d be disappointed with This Series—- I was Totally Wrong.

great

I wish it was longer. the story moves at a good pace, the protagonist is quite strong but the Uthor very creatively wrote challenges that are indirect. so there is still a sense of struggle and the need to overcome, that is beyond power level x beats power level y. I also am a big fan of Mr Kramer and his narration, he's got a deep voice and a pretty good sense of the flow, ex. some narrators vocal I flection is off and you can tell it's because they did not know where the conversation was going then the author would indicate the tone and the narrarator would switch. but it was clearly not what they expected. but this narrator seems to have a good ability to be Ngry when angry, sad when sad etc etc. keeps you in the story.

Where's the farm

There is a distinct lack of farm in this farming fantasy book. The farm is what makes the series good and sets it apart from the hundreds of books doing the same over powered protagonist fantasy. But it plays no role in the story and is largely ignored in this book. Instead of a fun fantasy farming story it's just another over done adventure story with an overpowered character who will win every fight. The problem with stories like this is the main character is the main obstacle. He's the only real threat to those around him thru his idiotic actions. He drags his friends to a place they don't want to go thru ignorant boasts he can protect them. Then doesn't because he limits his abilities so he can lie to them about who he is. But drops enough bread crumbs thru his foolish actions that everybody pretty much already knows but pretends they don't because he's a soft man child who can't cope with stress.

I preferred the stoic war veteran the Mc was in the first book to the arrogant adventurer he became in this one. Also Elly's choice of familiar is immensely frustrating. She picks a creature known for displays of extreme cowardice then is surprised it's a coward. The quiet competence displayed by people in the first book has evaporated completely for some reason and I didn't find it enjoyable to watch their common sense go out the window. There is still a good book here the issue is it kinda fails to follow up on what made the first book great.
